My Chevelle was originally Madeira Maroon with White Interior.I love the car, but I was never a fan of the outside color or the interior color. So in the really remote chance I ever become wealthy enough to have a frame off restoration done, would I be going way off base to have black interior with blue outside or is originality the only thing that matters.

I agree with the "It's your car, paint it how you want it", and I know I will on my 72 - BUT - if I had a well documented SS, I probably would stick to the original.

My documented, matching 72 SS was originally code 68, midnight bronze. Almost up to the day of buying the paint, I planned on painting it that color, although deep down inside I really didn't like it. I changed my mind at the last minute and picked Mulsanne Blue. I'm VERY glad I did it. Personally, I knew that after all those years of working on it, trying to get it perfect, why would I want to paint it a color I could not live with.
Remember, you are picking a color that makes YOU happy, not anybody else. Mike |
