Well, we will see what happens... the buyer contacted me today. He has been in the hospital most of the week. His bank told him that the money was sent on the 12th. We are both in agreement that it should have hit my account by now. He is back home and doing better, and plans to go to his bank again this Monday. I asked him to email me some additional information about the transaction to take to my bank. Hoping this can be resolved this coming week.

Talk about a goat rodeo... I feel bad for this guy if he is out the money, no car, and sick to boot!

carpoor 04-17-2013 01:25 PM

Haven't heard from the "buyer" since I last posted. I have tried to contact him a few times since with no reply. To make matters worse, eBay still wants their money even though I have taken the steps to cover myself. They are threatening to suspend my account. I emailed them back and replied, "Please do, you will not get a dime out of me."

That said, I am done with them. So much for protecting their users.

fleming23 04-17-2013 06:02 PM

That sucks! I will purchase from eBay occasionally but I will never sell with them any more. I think I would probably throw something in the trash before going through eBay at this point.

Good luck on the car!!

Decided to have Ken @ Everyday Performance go through the carburetor again. It ran decent, but was hard starting if I let it sit for a few weeks. And had a slight off idle stumble. I figure I might as well go the extra mile since I'll be driving it for who knows how long. Should have the carburetor back by the end of next week. I expect it to run even stronger than before. Ken is doing a full restoration and recalibration for the cam and exhaust upgrades. :D

carpoor 05-06-2013 05:21 PM

The mail was a little slow, Ken didn't get the carburetor for almost a full week. He emailed me today, it is done and on its way back to me.

I'll be driving it again soon.

The weather was agreeable this evening, so took some "fresh pictures of the car.

Wow ,that is a beauty ,cant believe it didnt sell . That is my very favorite Monty and we never even see one around here anymore.

carpoor 05-12-2013 08:02 PM

Yeah, it escapes me too. If someone drives it, they'll realize what a great car it is. Half the battle seems to be getting people to actually look at the car. Far too many people seem to want to play games through email and text trying to beat you down on price before they actually see and drive the car. Maybe I'm not asking enough for it? I just stuck it back on C-list with an asking price of $10,500. ::shrug::

carpoor 05-24-2013 09:16 PM

I swear, 98% of the population must be on drugs...

I specifically stated, "no trades" - yet I am getting some silly offers. Three, count them three smog-year Corvettes in the past few weeks. (75'-79') Each person thought it would be an even trade, sorry... but I wouldn't pay more than $4K-$5K for one of those underpowered slugs. Tonight takes the cake, an IROC with lambo doors, the A/C removed, etc. ::facepalm::

Maybe I need to revise my ad, and state that the price reflects cash. And trade value is $14,500. Maybe that will scare off some of these people.

Did I mention that I hate dealing with people? :grumpy:

flash 05-25-2013 09:40 AM

I had that same thing when I was selling my 55 Bel Air ,I had all kinds of trade offers and my add said cash only no trades .

BillsCamino 05-25-2013 10:23 AM

I'll trade 'ya my Honda Elite 50 scooter...:) Can probably throw in a few bucks.

carpoor 05-28-2013 08:37 PM

:drunk: I think I need a drink... I may start a new thread in non-tech about trade offers. Tonight was a 99' lincoln navigator. ::facepalm:: I wouldn't walk across the street to piss on it if it was on fire. I looked up the kbb value for giggles and emailed it to them, $3000-$3200. FAIL!

Friday evening I am going to throw an ad on carsonline.com - $45, runs till it sells. A few people I know have had great luck selling cars through that web site. I start a new job in a few weeks, going through the background check, etc now. I just plain don't have the time for much of anything lately.

carpoor 06-07-2013 12:14 PM

I have had several offers as of late, some I am willing to accept. I have emailed back, stating that I will take their offer if it is in cash. No response. As if they didn't even have the money and were just "fishing." ::sigh::

flash 06-07-2013 04:03 PM

Its the right color and right time of year so just be patient ,it will sell .Good Luck.

Ms Grumpy 06-07-2013 06:13 PM

It agree with flash, it will sell. People are just watching their cash, but someone will loosen their purse strings.

carpoor 06-08-2013 06:43 AM

I'm about to start a new job in about a week, will be working 6-7 days per week. And putting in close to 70 hours every week. That is my stress currently, I am worried about not having time for everything. I do not want this car to sit, I've worked too hard to get it back up and running well. I've seriously started to look at storage units, so I can just park it and forget about it. (other than the money coming out of my account every month to store it) I would rather sell it, and store the Chevelle away until I can get to it. I feel like I am at an age where I need to focus mainly on work and stack away as much money as possible. (So I don't have to work the rest of my life)

BillsCamino 06-08-2013 08:18 AM

PM me your best, knock my socks off sale price...something that will make me can't live without this Monte. ;)
Cash in hand....and I'll fly into Orlando and drive 'er home.

Ms Grumpy 06-08-2013 08:09 PM

Wow Bill. I wish I could say that. Good Luck !

BillsCamino 06-08-2013 08:45 PM

This Monte just keeps jumping back up in my sight after 6 months plus of it being for sale.
Maybe it's destiny that it come to GA....
Gotta at least pursue this further in person to satisfy my curiosity.

Brian...I'll call 'ya tomorrow...;)

BillsCamino 06-14-2013 09:06 AM

Unfortunately, a recent issue with my wife's daily driver on Wed night forces me to reconsider the purchase of Brian's Monte Carlo. I now have to focus on either repairing or replacing my wife's car.
Looks like no new toy for me.
Crap. :o

Sorry Brian...and a bump to the top for 'ya. Good luck with the sale.

carpoor 06-14-2013 01:40 PM

No problem Bill, got your message earlier. Just now getting home from work and able to log on. If you change your mind a few months from now... I'll most likely still have it.

carpoor 06-19-2013 06:59 AM

Newest face-palm moment... just got asked if I would trade for a geo tracker with a sbc swap. ::sigh:: The guy claims it cost him $30K to build that mongrel. He needs to drop a zero, that would be more realistic.

carpoor 06-30-2013 03:57 PM

Sale pending, but I'm not going to hold my breath...

flash 06-30-2013 07:42 PM

Good luck ,hope it sells this time .

carpoor 07-01-2013 07:48 PM

You and me both.

carpoor 07-06-2013 12:37 PM

As usual, no sale. We agreed on a price over the phone. I drove the car about 30 minutes to meet the guy. I get there, and he starts nit-picking every little rock chip, etc. Then offers me $3000 less than we agreed upon. I remained calm, said, "We're done here. Thanks for wasting my time." Then started to leave. The guy had the nerve to ask me, "What? You're not going to counter offer?" It took all I had not to punch him in the face.

I really want to get rid of this car and the Formula, then go buy a late model truck cash. I need to be down to two vehicles for my sanity. With a truck and just the Chevelle, I can pick up and go any time I want. So tired of being tied down by material possessions.

flash 07-06-2013 07:27 PM

Sorry it didnt work out ,it will happen.

carpoor 07-13-2013 11:04 AM

Pretty much sold, recieved a $500 deposit this morning. Delivering the car and getting the rest of my money Tuesday. It sold for nearly my full asking price. :D

flash 07-13-2013 03:15 PM

Congrats on the pending sale .

Congrats on the sale.
Wish it was heading to GA but the timing simply didn't work out. :(
My car slush fund took a major hit buying Momma a new retractable hardtop Miata...engine repairs to her '06 will be completed later this week and then it goes up for sale.
Happy though, proceeds from that sale goes back to my car fund.
