Besides the Chevelle, I'm into Photography, Motorcycles, do some video gaming from time to time. I travel internationally a lot for work so I try to collect something cool from each place, i.e. a stein from germany, boomerang from Australia, etc. Here's a link to some photo stuff

Milano was nice but was there in July and it gets hot and humid. I think if I go back to Italy I will go to Venice or along the beach somewhere. |
Great hobbies you all have.
Chevelle is my #1 time consumer. Fishing, Deer Hunting, Harley Riding, kind of take up the rest. Family stuff is always top priority though. Grandson is 8 and wants to do the outdoor stuff....he loves it all including my chevelle and the harley. I lived in Ulm and Heilbronn Germany as a kid. My mother was from Heilbronn. She passed on when she was 38. I have a 68 Mustang coupe project I have to start on sometime.....Wife's car. She wants me to paint it a Mopar color.......Panther Pink. We'll hope she changes her mind. |
well, I've got the cars. The Buick is so nice it needs it's own category though so,
classic cars classic Buicks :) cycling/fitness racing (contemplating getting an SCCA competition license) classic music (I like combing thrift shops for old albums) thrift shops/flea markets |

I hope you're not basing my speed on a bike on the one ride we did, as I was definitely slowing down so as to keep your slow ass caught up with me so you didnt get lost!! :D I may just have to try to make it down to CB10 this year with the bike and then we will settle this once and for all, or at least for this year Jeff |

I'll buy most anything jazz/lounge/big band/latin from the 50s-70s that's in good shape, though. Even the stuff in bad shape can be salvaged for the music. I wash a lot of LPs in the kitchen sink :) then once they are on the computer, I use the magic razzle dazzle to get rid of the clicks and pops and the hiss. I have my turntable, amp, and laptop set up in the basement, as it's the only place the records don't skip. |
here's the type of stuff I can't get enough of. Most peopel throw this stuff away

I can't tell, is that a Sota?
I've got an old HK T-35 I bought years ago when I was in college. I was looking at that and an AR, both demo models and the same price, in an American in Appleton, and like a dummy I bought the wrong damn one. Still, it's been a good unit. I have an Audio Technica cartridge with their "line contact" stylus (same as Shure's hyperelliptical). So, what do you clean your LPs with? With that kind of playing equipment, I'm guessing one of these: http://www.discomusic.com/images/pho...ingmachine.jpg alas, with my budget, I'm limited to one of these, which is still better than a Discwasher: http://www.henryk.ca/Inventory%20Image/cfb80.jpg |

Scale model railroaders want to make thier trains look like the real thing. And not just the trains. The citys, towns, mountains, rivers, etc. They are after a minature world that looks real. Most modelers will also take thier locomotives and rail cars out of the package brand new and paint rust, soot and dirt effects onto the fresh paint to make them look as if they have been out in the elements for several years. Plus they will even tag thier cars with grafitti. Afterall, there isnt a whole lot of real life railroad cars or locomotives that arent dirty or rusty. Even brand new stuff gets grime on it after a few days. They even go as far as to operate like the real thing with industries and businesses on thier layouts with comodities that are served by a rail road. Passenger train schedules. They use time tables just like the real railroads runs thier trains across the continent. Also, around the early 90s. Computers have finally entered the hobby in a big way and now instead of controlling the polarity of the track. You are controlling the locomotives. In the old days, you either moved forward or backward and if you had 2 locomotives on the same track. They both either moved forward or backwards. Now, locomotives are available with a micro chip inside that allows you to operate it individually from the rest of the locomotives no matter where the others are. For the first time since the old days, actual head on, or any sort of train accident is potential now. These type of systems require a system to operate the trains instead of the old transformers that connect to the track though. As its a computerized system that you connect to the tracks. Instead of the old small transformer box like in the old day. Dont get me started on the hot new thing the last few years. Sound equipped locomotives. Companies are using professional sound equipment and recording the real locomotives to use for sound in the same make of minature locomotives. Right down to the idle sounds, horns, air brakes, etc. Just a few pics I had saved to kind of show what its all about. This is not my work personally. http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/h...road/CNWF7.jpg http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/h...lsonbridge.jpg |
that's something I got into as a kid, but dropped it after I got into cars.

Those are pretty effing sweet, Chris.

To put how much I like vinyl in to perspective. My turntable costs more then the car I drive. Mind you not our chevelle but our daily driver. Gotta have your priorities straight ya know. Nothing wrong with a disc washer but you may want to try one of the mofi brushes. |
