Wish I could get to a show. Haven' been able to go to one this year yet.

flash 06-02-2014 08:46 AM

We have only made it to one show this year ,our favorite cruise in keeps getting rained out . May try to find one this weekend if the rain goes away .

carpoor 06-05-2014 12:43 PM

Finally put the starter back in the 72' today. Went back in WAY easier than it came out.

Also dug out a spare 71' Lemans door we had at the shop, scavenged the latch out of it for the 69'. Put some better roll arounds on the rear of the 69'.

Ms Grumpy 06-05-2014 08:25 PM

Still trying to find the time to take my car in and get the mufflers on it. :(

chevymaher 06-06-2014 06:20 AM

I finished mom's siding now. I got one more room to tile and I am free. With no further delays maybe I can get this thing painted before winter. Income taxes came so right now I am a kid in a candy store. I got to pay a couple bills with it but i got enough to buy some car stuff. I thinkin steering wheel and SS chrome for the horn button. Dash pad and finish the dash. New bezel, SS dash piece. Weather stripping and the top. That ought to keep me busy a while after it is painted. Get the wiring and heater/air cond core back in.

I have owned 68-69's before I know one thing that is getting improved on from factory on this car. Dash gauges and radio are held in by the plastic dash bezel. Which is why they crack and fall apart. I had 68's turn the ignition off if they started to wheel hop before from this. I going to make bracing that goes from the firewall to the back of the gauges and radio. And from the metal dash where the steering column bolts on up to them. Give these parts some support so they can't just flop around anymore.

shadowgray396 06-06-2014 07:41 AM

There you go. Time to get rolling again.

chevymaher 06-06-2014 10:40 AM

Was cleaning the back glass and once it was clean I noticed someone in the cars past apparently used a grinder to get ice off of the window. Not really but it has scratches in a pattern consistent with ice scraping.
So I just ordered a felt pad and cerium oxide powder to buff it some. They are not bad you can't see them unless your right up on it and looking. Even a foot away they gone. But i would rather they are not there at all.

SS Shaun 06-06-2014 11:41 PM

well i finished the mazda today. its now running on a 6.0 with a 6 speed manual just need to get some more air out of the clutch and bleed the brakes and she is ready to go

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n...ps2oijjvkt.jpg

Always nice to get one project out of the way and move back to the Chevelle.

Chevelle will be getting driven today, maybe a car show tomorrow. Might even turn 300 miles on it today. Hasn't seen much driving in the last 2 1/2 years.

Joins some friends for coffee this morning.

BillsCamino 06-07-2014 07:34 PM

Great weather Ray for the Chevelle ride!!! At least here in SeaTac.
Saw a mid '50s two tone Merc and a teal '63 Impala 4dr w/skirts drive down International Blvd earlier this afternoon...heading South.
Cool.

Ms Grumpy 06-07-2014 09:50 PM

Started my day at 6:30am. I had to wash my car, it has been sitting in my dusty garage for 2 weeks. Finally finished about 8:30 and headed out to my first car show of the day about 9:15am. I was at the Queen of all Saints car show in Fraser (the city I spent my high school years and the church was a place that I used to catch the bus at, that is why I decided to go there).

After the car show I went to my former Mother in Laws house. I haven't seen her since her son, my ex-husband died a few years ago. When she opened the door her mouth about hit the floor when she realized it was me. We spent an hour standing in the driveway of her home talking about my kids and how things are going for her. Before my ex passed away he had spent 2 years restoring a car for her. Her last name is Studebaker and she was a huge part in organizing the Studebaker geneology. Party because she had been a medical library librarian for over 30 years and she had her Masters degree in something pertaining to being a librarian. Anyway, the car that he restored is a 1956 Studebaker and I got a peak at the car sitting in her garage.

I got home close to 5pm then headed back out to the local A & W Drive in restaurant about a block from my house. Me and hubby spent a few hours just enjoying the cool breeze and talking to the owner. What a wonderful way to spend a day.

Now just trying to decide where I am going to go tomorrow. My ex Mother in law will be at the Packard Proving grounds, which is about 45 min. north of me. Or go see Ken and his wife at the Wilson Barn Show which is 1/2 hr south of me. Why can't I fly ? Then I could do both. :)

shadowgray396 06-07-2014 10:41 PM

Sounds like you had an enjoyable day and a busy one.

SS Shaun 06-08-2014 07:14 PM

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n...ps1yxpvkbc.jpg

shoulder cowl is almost all in i ran out of gas so i am done...lol even tho i used the spot welder just tired...lol

Ms Grumpy 06-08-2014 07:28 PM

My day started early again today. I decided to meet Ken and his wife at the Wilson Barn car show. The weather was not looking good but I texted Ken and he said they were going so I left my house about 6:50am. I got to the show and was lucky enough to park a couple cars away from Ken.

And then the rain began. I have to say a HUGE thank you to Ken for allowing me to camp out under his canopy with them. I haven't put my canopy in the trunk and didn't realize it until I was 1/2 way to the show. I did have an umbrella, but it rained for hours.

The sun finaly came out about 1pm and it turned into a beautiful, but hot, day. I made it home a little after 5. I do have a lot of pictures to go thru and then I will post them.

flash 06-08-2014 07:28 PM

I didn't get anything done all weekend. :( Had an awful migrane from the moment I woke up yesterday. Had work this morning, then homework. (due tonight) I am off again on Thursday, guess I will just hope and pray the weather and my body plays along.

shadowgray396 06-08-2014 10:58 PM

Chevelle is up on blocks. Fixing a coulpe of leaks. Right front brake line is leaking and searching for another oil leak.

SS Shaun 06-09-2014 11:39 AM

There never done, Lol

SS Shaun 06-10-2014 08:34 AM

so i will not post any pictures but i went to finish spot welding my cowl and the handle broke and burnt me on my forearm REAL BAD aka i stopped working on it for the night. I dont know what i am going to do about the broken handle but i am pissed so my cowl is going to be on hold for a little while

shadowgray396 06-10-2014 08:37 AM

Sorry to hear that Shaun. Hope you will be alright. I still have a scare from a bad burn on my left arm from reaching under a car and touching the exhaust.

SS Shaun 06-10-2014 09:00 AM

yeah it just looks bad because i have a sprained wrist then a big band aid right under the ace bandage. it will heal just so mad at the handle breaking like that. I guess that is what i get for using harbor freight

SS Shaun 06-10-2014 10:48 PM

chevymaher 06-11-2014 06:50 AM

Nice job Shaun. Boy that brings back memories. Mine was the window track areas.
LOL I was reading your post. On my van forum I got a thread on mine called. "The never ending project. It takes a special kind of stubborn to go through all this for a car don't it?

SS Shaun 06-11-2014 10:29 AM

LOL yeah dude its a killer and on top of all that my spot welder's handle broke and burnt me real bad. I know my wife thought i was crazy last night going out to finish it with my burns all sore and stuff. I told her the more time i get to work on my chevelle the more items i can take out of the office. she said by all means please go to the garage...lol
i use my office as a storage space when i run out of room. so in there i had my hood for my mazda and now i have my hood and fenders for the chevelle in there. she is not happy but i have no where to put them...lol

flash 06-11-2014 11:04 AM

Your storage situation sounds very familiar ,when I was restoring the truck I had parts all over the house ,the spare bathroom ,our office ,under beds ,you name it .

SS Shaun 06-11-2014 01:06 PM

lol at one point i had the dinning room table..lol

SS Shaun 06-11-2014 01:08 PM

shadowgray396 06-11-2014 04:28 PM

I used the bedrooms, but my wife drew the line using the dinning room table. Lol

Ms Grumpy 06-11-2014 08:05 PM

The "man's" perfect table. lol

Ms Grumpy 06-11-2014 08:07 PM

I have been watching the Overhaulin' episode of the 1970 El Camino and they painted it a Burgundy red. I am dreaming about repainting......

flash 06-11-2014 08:34 PM

I wish we got to see OverHaulin ,Chip is a nice guy and I loved his show .

flash 06-11-2014 08:35 PM

Oh and I did nothing with the Chevelle as it was storming again today ,sounds like a Rerun .

chevymaher 06-11-2014 08:53 PM

I was smoothing out the stamping wrinkles on the drivers door. In the door jam.

shadowgray396 06-11-2014 10:08 PM

Hoping to get the Chevelle to a Friday night show, but they are talking rain so we will see. Keep trying to go to a show and it's either I'm out of town or its raining. ugh

My Son Craig got to meet him at a photo shoot he was doing at Barrett Jackson in Jan 2013 and got to spend about 15 mins talking to him. He has this picture on his wall in his office as well as one of him with Craig Jackson.
