PINKS at Norwalk, Ohio this weekend
 

I am not fortunate enough to have a car in the PINKS competition, but I know a few people that are there right now.

I have been getting texts from my brother for the past 2 days about what is going on down there with him and his friends.

Friday's qualifying brought runs that were 9.82 and 9.78 by an Impala. And 9.32 (his best ET ever) in a Vega. Then the Speed Channel had to set up for the Saturday night show, so it delayed the rest of the time trials for 2 hours. When they did resume racing they finished at Midnight with the Impala running a 9.77 and the Vega running a 9.54, after spinning his tires.
Saturday morning brought the Impala running a 9.78 and the Vega running a 9.35, but it appears that the Vega has a broken steering rack. So off to the parts store they go.

After waiting all day Rich from PINKS announces that the top 16 cars ran in the high 9 seconds class. We are all excited, maybe the Impala has a shot at it.

Then Rich starts calling car numbers. Now Jim's car number is 404. Rich calls 4.............0...........2. he just missed it. So they are all spectators.

But wait, it gets worse. They called 2 alternate #'s and one of them is Jim's permanent car #, not the PINKS car #. What a bummer.

The all out 16 include 1 Ford, 1 Mopar, 1 Pacer, 2 GTO's, 1 Nova and a variety of other GM vehicles.


I don't have all the rounds but down to the semifinal and one of the cars is the Pacer, with a woman driver with a Corvette engine.

The final is the Pacer versus a Chevelle !!!!

Just found out it is a 1978 Pacer and a 1968 Chevelle in the finals.

And they are tied one run each in the best out of three final round.

OK..So I do know who wins. My brother was great, he kept sending me video's, on my phone, of the final rounds.

As you can see, I dont go online much. PINKS was just the best time I have had with the car with my pants on! I have owed the car since 1981. I bought an LS-6 in the crate back in '82. Most of the paint on the car is from 1982. I am running the car tomorrow night at Pittsburgh International. The best time for the car is 9.93 at Thompson last year. Since PINKS everyone wants to see the car. My relatives in Virginia want me to bring it to Buds Creek. I will try and upload some pictures soon. Got to go.

You probably had to sign something because you were involved. I know, but wonder if I should tell.

You can tell. I did sign papers. Car ran best ever on motor last night. 10.14 at 134 on motor. NOS here we come!
