Royal Purple
I was given two cases of Royal Purple and I went back to swap one for a 10w 30 instead of the 30w and the guy that works there asked me when i walked in "what are you trying to do blow something up" and I said no it was given to me and I was swaping one case for a 10w30 because I don't like straight 30w and he commenced to tell me some horror stories about peole he knows that have run the oil in their car's. He is a big time drag racer, works in a respected speed shop so i think he may know something i don't but i wanted to toss this out there and get some feedback.
Let me hear from someone on how they feel or if they no someone who uses the oil. Thanks Mike |
I don't use it but have never heard anything bad about it. My son has been using it in is truck for several years. Not sure how long he goes before oil changes, longer than with dino oil.
You'll find people that say it's the best, you'll also find people that say Amsoil is best and so on and so on. |
Thanks for the reply. i am waiting to hear from others before i put it in my Chevelle.
let me throw something else out there. This may be the wrong place but i will try. I am looking for other muscle car owners that are Veterans of the Military or on Active duty that would like to start a club. I live in San Antonio, soe body give me some feed back. Yes I am a veteran of the Vietnam Era US Navy 1964 to 1968 very proud and would go back if i could |
Not a veteran ,but thanks for your service especially during a time when our soldiers were not treated well.

I'm pretty new to these forums so i don't know where to find forums in the San Antonio area. HELP

If he's a "big time drag racer" what's he doing with a minimum wage counter job? Two of my cars came with 5W30 synthetic from the factory, as have millions of others out there. Get the proper weight as shown in your owner's manual. If this is for a non-factory built Chevy engine, I would be comfortable with a premium 10W30 in there. If its over 450hp, I'd move up to a 15W40.

Royal Purple
dbradely, if you had read what i put on my question maybe you could have come out with a better answer. The gentleman that you say works for minimum wage probably could buy and sell you with his pocket change. Now what i said orginally was that i wanted some feedback on Royal Purple 10/30 or straight 30w.
i have had some excellent feedback from alot of other gearheads and i do appreciate what they have to say, if this is the kind of feedback i can expect then maybe i need to move to some place that respects other people. Have a good year dbradley |
Hey Mike ,dont let one guy run you off .I for one would like you to come back and get to know us .I dont know a lot but will help anyone I can .How bout it ,stick around and BS with us.

You know I usually don't let people push my buttons but for some reason dbradely did. I'm not going to give him the satisfaction of thinking he has that much power over me.
I'm here to get help from guys and gals that want to be helpful. Now let's start this New Year off positive. I've got to figure out how to post a picture of my Chevelle, I just finished doing a complete front end overhaul, went from power drum to disc brakes, new sway bar the works, man does it make a difference on the ride and the stopping. I always had the go power but no stop power. Thanks for all the words of encouragement, this ole dog aint going anywhere. dbradley have a blessed New Year and the rest of the Chevelle owners |
I haven't watched the video but Ms Grumpy, Nancy, posted this how to on posting pictures. If you still have questions after watching, let us know, it's really pretty easy.

Posting Photo
Thanks that sounds easy enough. I will try soon, now I've got to get some god pictures of the Chevelle.

Can't wait to see your pics. Remember, you can go to your profile page and set up whole albums of your car also. Each album can hold up to 75 pics.

I have been running Royal Purple 10w30 in my 69 Mild 350 for 2 years now. I never had nor seen any problems running in it my car. I really like the stuff and think its a great oil def a lil improvement in power. I run it with a K&N oil filter as well.

Royal Purple
Thanks for the reply. I have gotten a lot of different opinions from people but that is what makes things work. I have 2 cases so i guess i will buy royal purple filter and try the oil and see if there is any difference in power. Will let you Chevelle guys and Gals know

There really aren't any 'bad' oils out there. Some might not be suited for high lift flat tappet cam but that doesn't make them bad. They all meet the government specs.
|
I use to use it in my 96 jeep grand cherokee,, engine oil/ trans oil/ front /rear diff oil, and in the transfer case, , loved it ! never had a problem with it. But , they don't give it away!

Royal Purple
Well I just got mikes67 back from the shop and finished the front end overhaul, brakes upper and lower a-frame bushings i mean a total overhaul, this thing will stop now and steers just as good, now in goes the Royal Purple oil, have gotten a lot of positive feedback so it's time to change it out, will let yall know as the miles go on, going to slow because it's raining and she don't get wet.
Updates will come as the weather permits. mikes67 |
Any updates? I've been using the stuff in my Titan (5.6) for the last 2 years and I'm converted. I swear by it at this point. For a true analysis you could always send a sample to blackstone labs in Fort Wayne, IN. They are great with oil analysis and engine readouts just from a sample.

i ran royal purple in my ls1 in my rx7 and it did fine i never dyno'ed it with royal purple so i dont know if its true that it gives you more power. I do know that i stopped using it because it cost so dam much..lol thats the only reason why i stopped using it. might get a case for it this year
|
I don't buy it for the "power increase" more the fact that it lasts a long time. With the limited driving I do mostly around town or to other posts it lasts me about 6 months or more before it needs changing.
|
then for that just get Mobile1 syn. just as good i put it in my LS1 in march and it did fine for me all season i put about 3000 miles on my motor over the summer and i checked it ever few weeks and it was still pretty clean. the only hard driving i did the my ls1 was on dyno day after that it was just running on the street and going to local cruises
