CB11 Dragstrip pics

It was unbelievably hot and humid, but we still made the trek to the dragstrip. And had a blast. When we got there my car didn't want to start, we think that the starter got to hot. After letting it sit for a while, it fired right up and made a few passes down the track. Some of the pics may not be the best, but it was like there was this haze from all the humidity. I wanted to give you guys a little taste of what it was like to be here today.

I let my brother drive my car and he had a blast !

It was so much fun to watch everyone having such a good time, you had big built motors against the stock guys.

The burnouts were half the fun.

Is that track 1/8 mile?

Ms Grumpy 06-10-2011 06:38 AM

Yes it is...

Hank70SS 06-10-2011 06:50 AM

I checked your album, you got some pics. Looks like a fun day.

What kind of camera do you have? Just a tip, you need to use a slower shutter speed for shots like that. The wheels will be a blur, it will affect the whole image and give a sense of motion and speed. A fast shutter speed freezes everything, you really can't even tell the cars are moving.

Some of the cars made many passes. We saw this wagon so many times, and watched the back tires bouncing like crazy, we all agreed that the owner was really trying to break it.

Really liked both of these cars. Daved especially liked the wagon.

Hank, I had the wrong camera with me. We have 2 cameras and the camcorder with us, but grumpy went back to the hotel with my car, and I didn't realize I had the wrong camera until after he was gone.

Tonight its back to Music City for the autocross event. I will take many pictures then.

Hank70SS 06-10-2011 08:05 AM

I agree with grumpy, that black wagon is sharp.

Ms Grumpy 06-10-2011 08:06 PM

We went to the race track for the auto cross tonight. Unfortunately, the trip down to the track got a late start. When we got to the track it was already after 5pm and they still were setting up the track. The event was supposed to last from 5-7pm.. It was 5:30, we were in the parking lot of the racetrack, just ran out of water and didn't want to walk back to the car for more. So we decided to go. I really wanted to stay and watch, but we were tired.

grumpy 06-10-2011 08:55 PM

That heat was a real killer.

Highway Star 06-11-2011 10:06 AM

That black wagon looks like Cajun Ernie's. I was visiting with him a few weeks ago at a show near my house. He has a procharged LSx in that thing.

Ms Grumpy 06-11-2011 08:35 PM

The talk of the weekend seemed to be the cars at the race track. We stopped by the Holly tent and were talking to the rep. who had his own Chevelle and went to the track. He said that another one of the guys that came with him was having carb problems also. He said that they filled the tank here with the premium and the problems began. After taking the carb apart they found this white gunky film all over everything. Now we put gas in here, but not til after the race track.

That is Ernie's wagon.

Ms Grumpy 06-12-2011 07:57 PM

Is he the one that had the number crossed off on his car? He thanked everyone for voting for him the past 4 years and asked people not to vote for him this year.

Yes....same car.

Ms Grumpy 06-13-2011 07:48 PM

That was a really nice car. I remember David talking about it. I like that he wanted to let someone else take home an award.

Ernie is a great guy and I love his wagon .You should see what he drives up in at the Heart Of Dixie Christmas party. He definitely gets your attention.

BillsCamino 06-13-2011 08:46 PM

That wagon won People's Choice last year. :ntwrthy: With a different, smaller LS engine...
And a Top Three winner the year before in a non-turbo version.
Owned the "Shovelle" for a few years before that...do a Search on that '69...very cool.
I don't know if you were able to talk to Ernie...I've been fortunate to know him for quite a few years now.
Definately a character... :D

Ms Grumpy 06-14-2011 06:58 PM

I tried to talk to as many people as I could, but because of the set up of the event, it is hard. And no one wanted to stand out in that heat next to their cars. I was one of them.

grumpy 06-15-2011 04:23 AM

That wagon is my dream car. We need a drooling smiley..

flash 02-15-2012 07:15 PM

That black wagon is BAD and available if you got deep enough pockets. It is super charged LS powered if not mistaken and Ernie likes to play with it.
