Damaged During Transport

5 Attachment(s)
This is my car (damage not visible) followed by pics of the damage done by the shipper. Bought the car a month ago and had it in our garage 4 days before taking it to a body shop! The car was shipped on the bottom level of a double decker transport and the idiot driver dropped the upper rack onto the roof. Not exactly what we expected when we bought our dream car!

Sorry to hear that Rich. Thats enough to spoil your summer.:( Very nice looking Chevelle none the less. I just had a car delivered to my house yesterday. The shipper used a single enclosed trailer.
Very happy with the service. Again sorry to hear that.

Sorry to hear about your car. I agree nice looking car. Love to see a few more pictures when you get it back

When ever we get it back we will take a boat load of pics.
This has been such a crappy experience that once we got the car home we were both so pissed off that we didn't want to take too many pictures.
Now we are having to fight some dead beat trucking company that wants to drag their feet in paying the bill.
I have a feeling it's gonna get ugly.

That sucks, beautiful car. Hope you get it fixed up soon so we can see some more pictures.

Maybe get your insurance company involved? That is ashame.:(

As the others have said its a beautiful car and great color .Hire a good lawyer if nesessary to make them fix it right .It will all work out for you in the end ,just be patient .

Rharp 06-26-2011 01:08 PM

Thanks for all the compliments everyone.
I called my insurance co. last week and was told nothing could be done on their end because the car was not in my posession.
The trucking co. knows it's their fault, I have paper work from the driver showing the damage, emails from the owner saying he will pay, but the shop wants the money up front and for some reason he doesn't want to do that. He seems to want proof that the car is fixed before he pays. That to me makes no sense, he damaged my car, he owes me the money it would cost to fix it.
It's up to me if I want to fix it or take the wife on a vacation.
Anyway I have written an email saying if it's not paid by Monday I will be getting a lawyer
come Tuesday.

Hank70SS 06-26-2011 06:40 PM

Too bad you have to go that route but some times that's what you have to do. Hope they come around and agree to pay for the repairs.

Ms Grumpy 06-27-2011 07:16 PM

I feel so sorry for you and your wife. After reading what happened, your insurance company hit the nail on the head.

The car was not in your possession, so it was not yours yet.

Did the previous owner contract the shipping company, or did you ?
What does the paperwork, from the shipping company, state as far as if any damage was done ?

I hope that you can get this situation settled soon. Please keep us informed.

" Idiot driver" "dead beat trucking company" .... sounds like your future has alot of phone hangups in it LOL

Try a civil approach and pratice patience and you will probably get your needs met with as little pain as possible.

Rharp 06-27-2011 11:08 PM

The truck driver contacted the trucking co. as soon as the car was pulled off the truck.
The paperwork that he gave me that night had several views of a car on it, he drew all over the one that had the roof view. He also wrote that the damage was done in shipping and signed it. I bought the car from a classic dealer in Cali. I have been in contact with them and they said they have all sorts of pics to proove there was no damage when the car was picked up, and they will turn them over to a lawyer if it goes that far. I will find out if payment was made by tomorrow morning, if it was then my car can begin being fixed, if not, I call a lawyer.
It's so crazy that it has to come to this ,
I guess no one can man up to their mistakes any more.

Just because I'm talking like this on a forum doesn't mean that's how I speak with them on the phone.

Rharp, was the shipper one of the major carriers like Passport, Intercity, etc?

As soon as everything is fixed, payed for, and in my garage I will say the name of the shipper. I will say that the shop got a partial payment yesterday, so we are moving in the right direction now...

Hank70SS 06-29-2011 05:45 PM

Glad things are moving in the right direction. It still sucks but if they pay for the repairs without lawyers, that's good.

Thanks Hank... And I agree 100%

flash 06-29-2011 08:24 PM

Im sure they will treat you right as they dont want a negative feedback on their business and accidents do happen .

Ms Grumpy 06-29-2011 09:02 PM

It was so nice to hear that even partial payment was made to the shop. We all wish you the best on getting this resolved quickly.

Thanks everyone
we are very happy that things are starting to move along now. Not as happy as we'll be when the car is done, but happier then we were two days ago.
My employees at the shop are happy as well, they wanted to all get a lawyer and take on the trucking co. for the hostile envirement they've been working in. Haha
