I got a counterfeit bill this morning.

So grumpy and I decided to go out early this morning and needed some cash. So we stopped at our bank ATM and took out a few bucks. I attempted to use one of the bills in a slot machine and it spit it back out at me. So I found one of the workers on the floor, to see if she could exchange it for me. She checked it out and proceeded to call her supervisor (like I didn't notice). The supervisor came out and told me that he was going to take it and verify that it was good.

About 15 minutes later, here comes a security guard and two upper management people who proceed to tell me that the Michigan State Police have been called because I have a counterfeit $20.00 and I tried to use it at the casino. Great ! What a way to start the morning.

About 40 minutes later a police officer finally showed up and he showed me the bill again (I hadn't seen it since I handed it to the worker on the floor). I could tell that it was not right. Anyway he took all my info and told me that unfortunately I was out the $20.00 because he had to confiscate the bill.

And how was your day ?

Well that sucks, at least it was only $20. You were going to donate at least that much to the casino anyway.

I actually went to the bank and I have a good chance that they are going to give it back to me. They are going to verify the time the money was taken from the ATM and talk to the State Police and we will see. I am glad it was only a $20.

I pass a Casino every Friday in WVa.Is't like the car wants to turn right and I got to fight the wheel.I know my limits,If I didn't win,I would blow a ton. So,I just stay away.;)

Ms Grumpy 07-12-2011 07:24 PM

You just have to know your limits, and leave the credit cards at home. I think you also need to know that it is called "gambling" and the odds are against you. Don't expect to walk out with money in your pocket, and if you do win, get the hell out of there.

Only been to a casino once in my life and that was with Lindsay about 7 years ago. Gave her $50 to spend and she parlayed that into $600.

We dont call it gambling ,we call it cheap entertainment .We go to the casino's at Mississippi during Cruisin The Coast with a $20 loss limit ,but we try to only go when they throw you a free meal to make us feel like we got our moneys worth.

wow that sucks! did you call the bank and tell them your issue?

What was the outcome of your counterfit bill ,did you get stuck with no cash from that transaction ?

Ms Grumpy 08-09-2011 12:23 PM

Well because of that, or so we think, an investigation was started at the bank. In the process, some how or another our credit cards, linked to this account, were reported stolen so they were cancelled.

So the story starts...
We were at a store and tried to use one of the credit cards and it was declined (just a little embarrassing), luckily I had cash. Anyway, we drove to the closest bank and was told that it was the magnetic strip on the back of the card that was trashed and that was the reason we were declined. So we ordered new cards. OK, problem solved.

Then about 15 min after we left the bank, David's phone rings and it is the bank telling us, no .. it was not the strip on the card, but that the card had been reported stolen that morning. We didn't report it stolen. What was going on ? We said, screw this and drove right to our bank branch. When we got there, no one could tell us exactly why our cards had been cancelled. And the girl who had originally talked to me about the counterfeit bill was on vacation that week. Could it get any better ? Of course it could. We were heading out on a road trip and didn't have a credit card, or access to an ATM for any cash.

We still don't know why so much stuff happened with our account. But we did get the 20 bucks back.

Im glad you got your 20 back but the rest sucks.
