Still too hot here...

...so we're getting back in the big ole rollin turd and going up to Oscoda on Wednesday. Supposed to be around 80 there into next week. My uncle owns a lot in a private park and he's not using it. It's right at the mouth of the Ausable River where it goes into Lake Huron. River behind you, beach on the other side.

Went to Baker's today with Ray, we were probably there less than an hour. Too hot, no cars, the parking lot was only half full and almost no one up on the grass. What a year this has been.

shadowgray396 07-31-2011 09:45 PM

Have a great time. Been about 80 here everyday all weekend. Just right.

I'm sure Maureen has the air on sub-zero degrees. Have you worn your sweat shirt out yet ?

Ms Grumpy 07-31-2011 10:45 PM

Pretty warm and humid here today. I drove the kids down to just inside the Indiana border to go camping with grumpy's brother. They are staying at a Yogi Bear campground that has a pool, a playground and a water park. They rent golf carts to get around and have a store on the property.

I remember camping when I was a kid and it was not like this !

That sounds perfect, hope that's what we have in Oscoda. At least if it gets too hot we can always go in the lake. Lake Huron never get's very warm, it's not like Lake Superior but still stays pretty cool.

Ms Grumpy 08-01-2011 11:25 AM

I heard we have some thunderstorms moving in for the next few days. Then a bit of a cool off for a few days. The cool off will mean that we will hit a high 70's day. I want the 60's back.

flash 08-02-2011 11:21 AM

Its been absolutely miserable down here with the heat and killer humidity .I was soaked with sweat just going to the garden and picking a couple of baskets of tomatoes .Our tomato vines are just about dried up and done ,they usually last til first frost.

Ms Grumpy 08-02-2011 01:01 PM

flash, I think that most of the crops are not producing that much this year. I have not really seen that much of a decrease in the price of fresh produce, like we usually see in the summer. I know that the gas crunch has something to do with it, but the weather does more.

We are waiting on the wind and the thunderstorms here today.

flash 08-02-2011 08:56 PM

We had a nice thundershower yesterday evening that cooled us down for a little while .

Hank70SS 08-09-2011 04:43 PM

Got home yesterday, nice vacation. Didn't do a damn thing, just relaxed.

Cut the grass this morning, very muggy. Had a brief down pour and some lightening. It passed over, sun came out and the power went out! We've lost power about a half dozen times this year. A couple times a year is one thing but this is getting ridiculous. Feeding that generator gas at $3.75 a gallon is not cheap. I just bought 10 gallons this morning to cut the grass and now I have 5 gallons left.

shadowgray396 08-09-2011 06:03 PM

Glad to here you made it home. We can't even hit 80 around here. In fact we may set a record for no 90° days this summer. We only made it to 86° one day so far this summer.

flash 08-09-2011 08:40 PM

Looking forward to cooler temps in Ohio.

flash 08-15-2011 07:54 PM

Temps in Ohio were great this past weekend and when we got home were greeted with more pleasant temps .

Ms Grumpy 08-15-2011 08:45 PM

Oh...it was nice and cool here when we got home from the Ohio Show. We drove thru some major downfalls, but when we got home it was cooler, just a little muggy.

shadowgray396 08-20-2011 11:21 PM

Hit 96 here today, first time we have gone above 90 this year. Our average has been 78 all summer. I was at the beach today and it was 76 and clear skies, which made it hard to do any roofing in the direct sun.

shadowgray396 09-08-2011 12:19 AM

Summer has been around here for the last 3 weeks. Been running in the high 90's and the fire danger is extremly high with all the tall grasses after having so much rain for most of the summer. We have at least have 5 major wild fires burning right now.

flash 09-08-2011 08:43 AM

Tenps here have been perfect the last several days ,got some much needed rain and high temps in the low 70's .Today looks like sunny with a nice breeze and low 70's and low humidity ,a perfect day.

Ray, my son lives in Texas and he is not too far from some of the wildfires there. I hope that it cools down for you and that you don't have any of the problems with wildfires.

Man am I jealous ! I bet there are quite a few other people that are too. But you will be leaving on your road trip pretty soon. How is the weather where you guys are headed ?

flash 09-08-2011 06:32 PM

I dont know about the weather where were heading as we dont know exactly how were heading .We are meeting part of our group in Nashville and getting our following orders from them .They have it all planned and mapped out ,we just go along for the ride.

shadowgray396 09-08-2011 06:33 PM

Have a fun trip.

We will try to have enough fun for ya'll too.

flash 09-09-2011 08:55 AM

Our weather continues to be unseasonably cool here and we are loving it.

Ms Grumpy 09-09-2011 05:26 PM

A little cooler here, but humid. And then some rain this afternoon. My kids are calling it Springfall because the weather can't make up it's mind.

shadowgray396 09-10-2011 07:43 AM

Headed to the coast to get away from the 100 degree heat this weekend. Temp are going to start to fall next week and by the end of the week be around the mid 70's. We don't have air conditioning in our house. Don't need it much around here.

flash 09-13-2011 06:45 AM

We are in New York and the weather s perfect ,check in later when we find a connection again.

shadowgray396 09-13-2011 08:40 AM

We are back into the low 80's and by the end of the week should be the mid 70's. Perfect weather so far and no rain.

Man, I wish you would have done the trip a week later. I could have given you two extra passengers. My daughter and grand daughter are moving there this coming weekend.

Sounds like you guys have some great weather...I hope that the weather continues to be great for your trip....be safe and have fun !

flash 09-13-2011 08:33 PM

Fun we are having ,took the cars across the lake on a ferry from New York to Vermont and drove into New Hampshire ,off to Maine tomorrow. There are 5 cars total traveling together and the weather has been almost perfect .We had some rain to deal with but nothing we couldnt handle ,mostly top down weather .Wish ya'll could be here with us ,we are having a blast. Our biggest problem is the week is going by too quickly.

Ms Grumpy 09-13-2011 09:10 PM

Sounds like the trip is fun. My mom did this trip in the fall when I was pretty young, she said it was so beautiful. I hope you are having the nicest scenic trip. Can't wait to see some pictures. Stay safe my friends, and have a lot of fun.

flash 09-16-2011 06:50 AM

We are having tons of fun and looking forward to more .The weather is nice and cool this morning after light rain yesterday .We may be able to drop the top a little later when it warms up a bit .Will check in later if we find internet access .Bye for now .

Hank70SS 09-16-2011 08:07 AM

Sounds like a great trip John. Hope the weather continues to hold up for you. How about some pictures?

flash 09-16-2011 08:21 PM

Dont have a way to load pics as we are lucky just to find a hotel with a guest computer .We are now in Pennsylvania and other than a slight mishap with an idiot trying to squeeze his mini van between our vert and the hotel building tonight all is well.Looks like I get to have my rear bumper repaired and rechromed after this idiot wedged said mini van against the bumper and tried to go all the way past our car. Luckily we saw him and got him stopped before he did any major damage ,but I scolded him real good as I was calling the police. But we are having fun and are heading to W Virginia in the morning .This trip has gone by way too fast ,not looking forward to going home yet.

Hank70SS 09-17-2011 07:31 AM

Hope the damage was confined to just the bumper. Enjoy the rest of your trip.
