Post your best ET!
I'll start...
69 "pro-touring" Malibu 13.62 @ 97mph 60' was a 1.84 on 17" street radials Fuel-injected '95 Caprice LT1 350, 4L60e overdrive automatic w/ 3000rpm converter, and 12-bolt w/ 4.10 gears. |
67 Chevelle, 496".
Best time so far.... 60'----- 1.273 330'--- 3.678 1/8---- 5.719 MPH--- 119.93 1000'-- 7.504 1/4----- 9.033 MPH---- 146.41 http://jddracing.com/images/chevelle...%20006.jpg |
Wow! How big of tires are you running to pull off a 1.27 60'?
Welcome to the forum! :) |

Silver Dollar Dragstrip Reynolds, GA 2:20 pm '70 Malibu AKA "White Lightnin'" R/T .019 60' 1.376 330' 4.037 1/8 6.281 MPH 109.67 |
My best with my car so far is 13.2 with 468 and th-350 going through a 12 bolt 3.73 rear. My 60 ft was a whooping 2.0!!
This wonderous feat was accomplished on street tires burning them well over 1/8 mile. I have not had a chance to run the new combo yet, but I have made some slight changes over the past summer ;) I am hoping to see the new combo go well into the 10's (oh heck a 10.99 is well into the 10's for me). The new engine made 686 hp and 663 ft lbs on the dyno, I now have a TKO600 (I know that will slow me down some) better axles and a set of Hoosier Quick Time Pro's. Hoping to see some air under the front tires this year. Oh and the car averages almost 20 mpg on the highway, so not so bad for a street car. Can't wait until April to find out what it does. Jeff |
never had my Chevelle at the track, but at CB I ran a 10.21@ 70 in the 1/8th with the Buick. I think that was with a .8 second reaction time though

Not sure what to say,,, in my own car, in someone else's car with my motor,
Ok how about three- 9.96 @ 131 in the WN with the 355 and a small shot of squeeze. The WN is sporting a 13-1 427 with a solid roller now but has only made 1 trip to the track. Hit 10.40's @ 129 on motor with traction issues now. Expect 9.90's once tuned in and hooked up then I'll squeeze a 150 shot to it. 9.64 @ 135 in Roger's 68 chevelle with the old WN's 355 on a small shot of squeeze, ah and a 1.22 60FT 9.22 @ 151 MPH in Roger's 69 chevelle with a really bad blown head gasket, on all 8 she had 8's in her. |
With the Chevelle,[email protected],with the original engine and Muncie trans it came down the assembly line with 40 years and 140,000 miles ago.Mostly stock been rebuilt twice. The Elky has a 68 427,215 iron heads with a 66 muncie, all old school parts,[email protected] are well over 4k lbs.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWvoq_-vgns

My Nova went 8.95 @150 Mph in the 1/4 at 3500 ft of air in Northern Alberta this year

You guys are making me feel really bad, it takes me 3 minutes just to back it out of the garage.

Jeff, they do better if you put a Chevy under the hood.:D Best NA 60' - 1.72 Best 60' on nitrous - 1.60 Best 1/4 NA - 12.58@108mph Best on a 125 shot - 11.72@115mph We're gonna see what she can do with more converter and a fresh transmission in the spring. |
My setup, more "Pro-Touring" than drag...
17" drag radials, Nitto 555r, 275/40/17 (on the front too), Eibach lowering springs, KYB shocks, 427 small block, AFR heads, Comp "nitrous" grind cam (but NO nitrous, so might be hurting the combo), Edelbrock carb, $89 Summit HEI distrib/coil, RPM Airgap intake, TH400 ( 2200+ stall?), 3.70 gears (9" with a detroit locker). Best pass was 12.34 at about 110 MPH... 1.7 60ft. Hot lapping (4 runs in 15+ minutes, with best coming 3rd or 4th run) and EXACTLY the way I drive on the street; Mixture of 89 and 91 octane pump gas from Costco, Out-of-the-Box Edelbrock carb, 17 psi in the drag radials, but still wanted to spin ( so launched about 1500-1800 RPM). damn short sidewalls... And functional factory A/C... First runs ever on the lower pressure drag radials. I previously ran 36 psi in the tires; 1.9 60 ft, and 13.3s ETs, with 13.7 ETs with a Demon DP (really bad traction) I have thought of getting some slicks and bolting the Double Pumper back on, just to see what she'll do... Or maybe a 125 HP shot of nitrous... :) |
It's been a long time since I was behind the wheel at a dragstrip but I remember running a low 10.20 and about 121mph in my super stock '69 Camaro back in the early 70s. I had it almost to the national record when Chrysler dropped their Pro Stock sponserships and all those hemis flooded SS D & E. No way could I compete with them. Dick Landy dropped the SS/EA record from 10.20 to 9.55 the 1st time out!

this is my buddies photobucket, more pics of it is under my name, russ 8.65 @155 sofar, 10:1 compression 572cu in(no gm crate) on 175 shot |
The Paperweight has made the best pass of 11.46 in the 1/4. Was a full pass, because it wouldn't rev over 3000 rpm in 3rd gear. found out later that the exhaust valves were smacking the pistons. (the machine shop hosed me and didn't check this. though I'll take the blame for some of it too)
Since rebuilding it and putting smaller pistons in it the best I've done is 11.81. I'll have to find the slips to find the MPH and other times. |
New best time....
60'----- 1.273 330'--- 3.667 1/8---- 5.693 MPH--- 121.16 1000'-- 7.455 1/4----- 8.955 MPH---- 149.85 |

Did you add weight to your cars?:) I am curious as my brother had a 72 gmc sprint, with a bb, th400 and 12 bolt rear it went across the scales at just over 3400. And according to most sites the curb weight was 3350. The 70 although I have never seen one on a scale is advertised between 3550 and 3800. And my 64-65 Chevelles never weighed more than 3450 with me in the seat. Not doubting really I just find it odd how the weights can vary by 600 lbs. Oh and my best in a my own cars has been 11.52 @ 124 in my 68 Camaro. I have been faster in a friends dragster. |
Wow, some fast cars in here. Im embarassed. Some times being posted are faster than my direct port nitrous injected Harley.
|
No ET for me. I'd venture a guess at times in the 15s with my "highway" gears.
Sub'd for updates. Some of you guys can really haul some a$$ |

I don't have a video of the 9.63 pass, but here's a 9 second run from when we first dropped the big block in years ago.

The time slips are still in the camper but my first pass last spring at BIR was a 13.11 @ 103mph. 350 engine, TH350 tranny with 2400 stall, 3.73 gears and 26" tires.
|
71 chevelle with 860hp with a 150 shot of nitrous she ran a 8,85 @ 154 with a 1.33 60 foot. I need to make a gear change to spray another 350 hit. hoping for some low 8s
