Well,
after 11 years of attending this show, we gave up our room at the Bavarian Inn.
A friend of my wife found out she had breast cancer last year and had to get a double masectomy. She is currently waiting to have reconstructive surgery in April. 3 weeks ago her daughter was involved in a bad accident and died.We offered her and her husband our room because they both have a love for classic cars. We're still hoping to attend this awesome show, but that depends on wether we can find a place to stay.
Can't wait for summer to get here.:)

Ms Grumpy 02-05-2010 03:01 PM

Brian, That is a wonderful thing that you did for your friend. Not many people show that kind of kindness. It will come back to you, what do they call that, karma. You will be there, keep the faith.

Nancy

Hank70SS 02-05-2010 05:06 PM

You're alright Brian. Very kind of you to do that. Get on the phone and keep calling BI. With the economy the way it is I'm sure something will open up before then. Don't give up, keep trying, that's the only way you'll get in. You got to be there, I think we'll have a bigger group than last year.

FlintTony 02-06-2010 06:07 PM

The missus and me will be there again. You guys want to do the same parking and cooking thing again? I hope you can make it Brian. You can sleep in the back of the Nomad if need be. Might get crowded if Ray needs a place to sleep though.

Lol, Thanks Tony for the offer.
I'm sure the Inn will find a room for us.;)

I agree. Lets do it.

RBeckman 04-26-2010 08:20 PM

I'm there and lets do the bbq thing again as that worked out real well. I got my 5-speed and not need to get some time and put it in...I'm kind of nervous on cutting up the tunnel..but what is the worst that could happen?

Hank70SS 04-27-2010 06:59 AM

Rick, if you're worried about cutting up the tunnel I'll do it. Doesn't worry me at all. :D

Bowtie-Bri 04-27-2010 08:17 AM

Just use a "Big" hole saw. Waving

Here are the pics I have from Frankenmuth...not very many. This year we will have to do a better job with pics. I have a new digital camcorder this year for Christmas and have been playing with editing, so I will be playing with that this year.

RBeckman 08-27-2010 08:45 PM

It's time

Ok guys, it's time to start planning this as we have only two weeks as os today. I'm in for cooking like last year. Who's going?

FlintTony 08-28-2010 05:03 AM

We'll be there. The cook-out thing sounds good. I can do the same as last year. See who shows up, figure out how much meat we need, get it from the local butcher shop. Mabey burgers, hot dogs and some brats sound OK? Hank, are you bringing the grill again?

FlintTony 09-02-2010 05:55 PM

What...just Ric, Kathy, and me going this year?

grumpy 09-02-2010 09:18 PM

I would love to go but funds and health prevent it this year. :(

robo3 09-05-2010 08:31 AM

hello,
im john, i finally finished my 70 vell this spring and will be there this weekend. fri i will be on the street and sat i would like to be down in the show area. just wondered if you guys could save me a spot next to your cars. i wont be there sun as i have a local show to attend in bay city.

so let me know how this all works ,and i cant wait to meet some fellow chevelle owners!

RBeckman 09-05-2010 11:59 AM

Robo,

We get there early on Friday morning to stake our spot and should be no problem on saving a spot for you. What time do you planning on being there on Friday and are you going to register.

We try to get a spot in between the river and the hotel as Tony and Hank have rooms and don't like to walk to far (ha) to take there daily naps. So try to come down and see us before you are on the street. Not hard to miss the cars as of right now there will be my 69 Blue SS, Tony's black Nomad (mad gasser), Hank's gold 70 SS and John's silver SS 69.

FlintTony 09-05-2010 12:46 PM

Hey Ric...I registered on-line. They didn't send me a post-card. Did you get one?
Looking foward to meeting you John.

RBeckman 09-05-2010 03:12 PM

Tony I did not get a card, just reqestration number that I printed out from the receipt and take that in with me. I forgot it last year and it was no problem at all when I went to be my packet. I talked to Hank last week and he is still coming he is just real busy right now with the motor home. He still has the Hotel room booked so I'm sure he will be there. Also, talked to Ray last Sunday at Bakers and he was pretty sure he was going to make it as well.

FlintTony 09-05-2010 03:18 PM

OK. Sounds good.

Hank70SS 09-07-2010 08:56 AM

You know I'll be there Tony. We were up in Oscoda over the weekend. I'll bring the grill and propane. Reminds me, gotta get the spare propane tank filled today. Lynda said she would bake some cookies and make a pasta salad or something like that. Ric, talk to John. I know he has a garden, maybe some tomatoes and onions and stuff for the dogs and burgers. We'll need plates, napkins, plastic dinner ware, ketchup, mustard, relish, cheese, etc. Anyone else going besides John and Ray, is Mike coming? Guess we can always make a trip into town if needed.

RBeckman 09-07-2010 11:39 AM

Hank...good to hear from you...I was about to drive by your house to check on you since we have not heard from you in while. I will call John this week.

Hank70SS 09-07-2010 12:24 PM

I had a dentist appt Thursday morning then we drove up to my uncle's place in Oscoda, got back yesterday.

Hank70SS 09-08-2010 01:30 PM

John (robo), hope to see you there. If you're coming Friday then register Friday. Then you can come in and stake out your spot with us. If you want to take your car to Main St on Friday you can, lot's of people do. If you don't come into the park until Saturday it might be hard for us to hold a spot until then. They really don't want you doing that. Once you have your spot you can come and go as you please, just leave a chair, etc to hold it.

robo3 09-08-2010 03:33 PM

what time do you get there fri ?

I should be there by 8.30 or so. The line at the registration joint should be moving by then.

Hank70SS 09-08-2010 08:01 PM

We try to be there around 8, but usually ends up closer to 8:30. Sometime around then would be fine, we can all get together next to the hotel, center row, and get our spots.

robo3 09-08-2010 08:22 PM

showing 60% rain for sat . not cool!

RBeckman 09-08-2010 09:42 PM

going to be a light turn out for us...Mike (The Henry J) is not coming, John may just be coming up later on Friday and staying for the street party, Brian not coming..any word on Ray yet?

Robo, I see you are from Bay City..did you go to school there..if so what year did you graduate? My wife is from there and her parents were teachers there for 30+ years.

Ms Grumpy 09-08-2010 09:54 PM

I would love to be there. Maybe we will drive up on Saturday in the van. I hope you guys have a wonderful time, and that the weather holds out.

FlintTony 09-09-2010 04:52 AM

I'm heading to the grocery store this morning. Will pick up buns, ketchup, mustard, onions, paper plates, plastic forks, and some relish. If you want anything else, holler.
Hank, is Jr coming this year too? Is he all healed up from the surgery?

grumpy 09-09-2010 06:56 AM

We may try to make it up there Friday.

RBeckman 09-09-2010 07:57 AM

I'll go later tonight and get chips, snacks and such to munch on through out the days.

The Grumpys, hope you guys make it up, are you familar with the layout at all of the show? If not let us know and we can give you some bad directions and phone numbers. Friday night is the big street party where they block off all downtown Frankenmuth and have cars all lined up...lots of people. Friday and Sat cars are down in the bark behind the Bavrian Inn across the wooden bridge.

Hank70SS 09-09-2010 09:08 AM

Just talked to Ray, he and his daughter are coming early Saturday, maybe make it up tomorrow night. You can register a car on Saturday can't you? Ray was thinking you had to register on Friday. I'll register him Friday if you can't register on Saturday.

Hank70SS 09-09-2010 09:44 AM

Ric, is Lesley coming? John (robo), do you plan on joining our cookout? Just you or will you be with someone? We just cook burgers and dogs Friday and Saturday for lunch or whenever somebody is hungry.

Bad directions and phone numbers are always welcome !! If you could PM them to me that would be great. I think we are looking to come up Friday.

Hank70SS 09-09-2010 10:41 AM

Nancy, north on I-75 to Birch Run exit.
East, 8 or 9 miles to traffic light, there will be signs for Frankenmuth.
North to Frankenmuth, another 10 miles maybe.
You'll see Bronner's on your right. if you keep going north you'll go into downtown.
When you get into town you can take the covered bridge across the river, on the right. There is a light just before the Bavarian Inn, the restaurant, take that road to the right and you'll go over the bridge. There is a large parking lot on your right after you get over the bridge.
The Bavarian Inn is on your left. To the left of the inn, walk across the grass out front then down the hill. You can enter the park there. We'll be in between the river and the inn, hopefully center row.

You can also turn at Bronner's and come up the other side of the river. The Bavarian Inn will be on the right and you can get to the big lot from there. That may be more crowded though because all the cars come in that way to enter the park.

I'll send you my cell# and Ric's, hopefully one of us will hear it if you call.

He's coming, he's doing good, goes back to work on Monday. He's going to drop Annie off at the doggy hotel Friday morning then drive up. He'll bring the grill and propane in his truck like he did last year.

RBeckman 09-09-2010 01:37 PM

Hank,

Not sure on Leslie yet, if she comes up it will be Saturday and will look at the weather for her desicion. She is a fair weather kid of person when it comes to car shows.
