Largest tires on 15 x7 on 69

What is the largest front/rear tire size on 15x7 rally rims with no rubbing or a puckered look.

I have 245/60 15's now and they are too small. i think that's like 25.5" tall?
and if i get on it they give up to easily (granted 4.11's don't help)

thx
rs

bump .......

I have 275/60's on 15x8 rims. I believe 275 is about the widest you can go with no worries. Not sure about mounting a 275/60 on a 7" rim though, they fit well on an 8" rim. You should check with a tire shop to see what the widest tire is that fits well on a 7" rim.

A 255/60-15 is the widest tire recommended on a 7" wide wheel. A 275/60-15 tire needs at least a 7.5" wheel per BFG.

BTW...hellava of a gear ratio you've got there!!! ;)

Your telling me Bill, thing is screaming at me at 60mph. I keep waiting for it to shift... never happens :D

I got 200-r4 lines up for it but that will have to wait till winter. then i will see if i still need to got to 3.70/3.55 or something.

it sure helps get out of the hole with just 370hp....

On other not i cant find my recpt.. i think i got 15x7's got to see if i can measure with out unmouting tire

I have 245/60 15's in now so 255's would only get me another inch is that right? no 60% of 1" so about half and inch is that correct???

You'd gain 60% of 10mm X 2, so 12mm, which is 1/2"

Bullcrappy 07-11-2012 09:24 AM

thanks Derek i was close :)

not worth it. i may sell the tires and wheels together and start over with some 15 x 8's ......

As per the BFG website:
Quote:

29.1" tall, 10.2" section width, 7.8" tread width
From their site concerning the 245/60-15
Quote:

26.6" tall, 9.8 section width, 8.5" tread width
It has less tread width, which confuses me... to me a 245 = 245mm wide, and a 255 = 255mmm wide. But, it is a good amount taller and has more section width. (overall width) Mounting a 275/60-15 on a 7" wide wheel isn't recommended, but I've seen it done.

Thanks i will have to go remeasure my tire height... i thought i came up with 25.5... i better double check. i have just done the rear springs/shocks and got it to a decent height. now i will do the front this weekend.

previous owner had looking like a gasser.

Although not recommended, a 275 will work on a 7" rim, the previous owner of my car had these 275/50's on this 72 for 8 yrs and I will be replacing them with 275/60's on 8" rims. I've had to postpone doing it because of funds, but until I do, I'll keep running them. Heck I have a Dodge truck with 295's on 7" rim's and those tire have had 60,000 miles put on them.

Here's a pic of my 72 from my post on tires.

that doesn't look bad Gman. not too puckered at all. hmmm

Hank70SS 07-14-2012 06:54 AM

Nice car! Definitely looks better with rear down where it should be. If you get new rear tires and rims, let me know what you for the set on there now.

Bullcrappy 07-14-2012 08:31 PM

Ya i would love that... i will settle for the 4 speed i have on tape for winter time. i will have to live with a .74 fourth gear.
