2nd Ramp truck in 3 weeks

Okay, this is the 2nd ramp truck I have purchased in the last month...

I like this one and plan on keeping it around for use to tote to the track and maybe even longer hauls like Chevellabration.

Truck has a Hodges styled bed (haven't confirmed its legitimacy yet). It has a 454 and everything else is pretty basic. Had A/C but most of the parts have been removed. I'll need to decide whether I want to replace the missing factory parts or install a complete aftermarket system (if anything at all.)

I pulled out the dirty/nasty carpet and put down a layer of POR15. Will probably just get a rubber mat and call it a day. I debated if I wanted to replace the door panels & dash pad as I did in the other truck that is now for sale but believe I am just going to leave well enough alone. No need to sink a ton of money into this thing!

I really like the idea of having the various things I need at the track all handy without having to load everything into the trunk of the Chevelle!

If only the Chevelle build sheets were this easy to find!

I like them both but the second one best. Any bites on the first one yet .

Have had a little interest in the 1st. The owner of the speed shop is debating buying it but already has something like 18 classic cars and is going to possibly buy a 70 Caprice in Alabama on Monday.

Hopefully someone will show interest as I will take a large hit to see it gone!

Cool truck Eric!! Even has hydro-boost brakes.

Good luck with the sale of the other one...seems like things aren't really moving right now. I've had some interest in the wagon and some very weird trade offers.
Maybe it'll get better after Tuesday...

I'm thinking that offer now puts you Gary in 1st place on the Weird Offer list. A tight race but throwing the dog in on the offer put 'ya over the top. :D
Without the dog would have you in 3rd....

I saw the wagon hanging out in Woodstock yesterday .

A guy I know has one darn near identical to that. He gets about 10 mpg with his. An overdrive would be nice on the long hauls.

I kept going back and forth on the ramp truck thing. I think I'm going to hold out for a rollback. I'm picking up a twin boom wrecker after the first of the year. I'll be SO MUCH HAPPIER not to have to lug ramps around and deal with a trailer anymore.

I would definitley like to have an OD in it but would probably only do a 4l80 or a Gearvendors unit. I drove it back from the North Carolina state line back to Atlanta with my Acura TL strapped to the back doing about 70-75 mph and managed around 9 mpg. Was about what I would expect given how fast I was going.

Once I get all the wiring sorted out and all the lights working (seems to have a random short) I will really enjoy having this thing. I typically drive my Chevelle to the track which requires loading all sorts of crap into the trunk. Then when I get there I have to unload everything and hope none of my tools or parts "walk away" while I am making passes. This will entirely eliminate that. Obviously a truck and trailer would accomplish the same thing but I can't justify owing a truck with the miles I put on my daily driver.

A rollback would certainly be nice as well! While these things are not easy to park or maneuver in tight parking lots, it is easier than having to deal with a trailer IMO.

I agree. I have a small hotrod shop and I've been using a trailer to move cars around. It sure does get to be a headache. That's why I'm making the move into a wrecker. (Also because it's a twin boom with separate winches and swivel booms) I can use it as a crane for heavy jobs as well as winching out my friends that get stuck in ditches and mud holes. :D
