1972 Monte Carlo

Here is a link to my Craiglist ad so I do not have to retype everything...

http://orlando.craigslist.org/cto/3502856424.html

The car is 99% ready, just fine tuning a few things and cleaning her up. I really would like to sell the car out right, but will consider a trade + cash for something I really like.

Ms Grumpy 12-26-2012 07:41 PM

Nice car. If I had only won the lottery.

flash 12-26-2012 09:16 PM

Very nice Monte ,good luck with the sale .

fleming23 12-26-2012 09:40 PM

Really is a good looking Monte! A car I would not mind owning for sure

Ditto!!
And tempting too now that the '66 wagon was finally picked up and delivered. I've got an empty space in the shop...
Where in FL is this located? How far fron the Orlando airport?

Jeez Bill, you're going to need to install a revolving garage door. :D

I am 30-40 minutes away via the 417. I'll give anyone who is a member here a big break on the price to make sure it gets a good home.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words.

shadowgray396 12-27-2012 05:22 PM

Looks like a nice car. I will be in Orlando in about 3 1/2 weeks, temping. I'm headed down to the auction in kissimmee and to see my daughter

carpoor 12-27-2012 07:31 PM

I've been pushing to get the car ready just in case someone in town for the auction was looking for a car to flip. This spring I should have a 71' Blazer ready to go too.

flash 12-27-2012 07:54 PM

Lets see some pics of the Blazer ,2x4 or 4x4 and how much rust ?

2WD, and zero rust - ever. It's from Arizona and never had any cancer anywhere.

carpoor 01-12-2013 12:43 PM

Just a look at the trunk floor, taken with my phone.

Ms Grumpy 01-13-2013 05:09 AM

Holy Crap. That looks almost like new.

carpoor 01-13-2013 07:42 AM

After the car was first finished, moisture started to get under the trunk mat and lightly stain the trunk floor. So we cut a piece of felt and slid it between the floor and the trunk mat. Problem solved. Other than lawn chairs and an occasional cooler, not much has been in the trunk of this car. IMO - that certainly helps keep down on the wear and tear.

carpoor 01-19-2013 10:19 AM

Bump... still for sale

carpoor 02-15-2013 09:37 AM

Bump, had two "serious buyers" back out on me this week. Neither party had the decency to tell me, I had to find out on my own. Going to pull the car off the market if it hasn't sold by the end of this month. I am burnt out marketing this car. :grumpy:

flash 02-15-2013 11:05 AM

Just drive it around WITHOUT the for sale sign and you may get lucky .You would not believe how many people chase me down trying to buy my old beater 74 Chevy truck and it aint for sale yet .I have a hard time convincing them it wont be sold til the other one comes home if ever it does . Just a thought .

carpoor 02-15-2013 12:37 PM

When driving it around, I've had plenty of people offer to buy it. The problem is, the average person thinks they can buy a car like this for $5K or less. When I tell them what I want for it, I usually get dirty looks and rude comments. Which is damn funny to me... considering the car isn't a pile of crap. I'm going to give it until the end of the month to sell, then pull it off the market. (13 more days)

carpoor 02-24-2013 12:37 PM

::sigh:: I just threw it on evilbay... why not? If it doesn't sell, I have a family member that is going to let me store it in his garage for a few months. Out of sight, out of mind.

shadowgray396 02-24-2013 07:09 PM

Good luck on the sale.

flash 02-24-2013 08:12 PM

I know how hard it is to sell one ,I thought my 55 Bel Air was never going to sell ,just keep the faith it will happen.

carpoor 02-25-2013 09:58 AM

Hope I don't jinx myself, but usually I sell vehicles in 60-90 days. I am in that 60 day window now. Next my focus will be to sell my 96' Silverado. I know what I want for a truck, have found a dozen or so in my price range, but don't want to get another vehicle until I move at least one.

carpoor 03-09-2013 09:30 AM

A little over five hours left, reserve met... looks like it's sold.

flash 03-09-2013 08:53 PM

Congrats on the upcoming sale .

shadowgray396 03-09-2013 10:02 PM

Congrats on the sale.

carpoor 03-13-2013 04:03 PM

Thanks, waiting on the payment to clear my bank. Should be within the next day or two. Then it will be a week or two before the carrier comes to pick it up.

Ms Grumpy 03-13-2013 08:21 PM

Congrats !! It was really down to wire on this one.

carpoor 03-21-2013 05:10 PM

::sigh:: It's not looking good, the car "sold" almost two weeks ago, still no payment. Haven't heard from the buyer in almost a week. Pretty much preparing for the worst right now. :(

flash 03-21-2013 08:34 PM

That sucks .

Sorry to hear this. :(
Not sure which is worse...the eBay jerks or the ones on Craigslist.

Hmmm.....
I still like this car...PM me with a price I can't refuse. I may have to be in Tampa Easter weekend and could fly into Orlando instead and drive it from there and then on home....

flash 03-22-2013 01:34 PM

Bill ,you would look good in that Monty .

I look good in everything. :D

BTW...Liam and Liz said to tell you and Joan "Hi".

carpoor 03-22-2013 02:29 PM

Bill, the car "sold" for $8200 on eBay. The fees, which I haven't paid yet, add up to about $145... so figure in reality I was getting a hair over $8K for the car. I have a local guy with an open offer for $7500. I don't like the guy or his tactics, but basically that's the lowest offer I have on the car right now. If I really wanted it gone, I could call him tomorrow and he would come get it. I really can't take any less, I am into the car for close to $12K. I bought it from my folks to help them pay off some medical bills and free them from the costs & maintenance associated with an old car.

fleming23 03-22-2013 04:49 PM

I am so tempted to make you an offer on this car, but know I should probably hold off until I find what I really want....

Wish I was closer so you could drive it, I am sure it would change your mind. These cars are given a bad rap for some reason. They ride great, are comfortable, and share most components with the rest of its A-Body family. I know my mother is going to cry like a baby when it finally sells. She was very emotional when I bought it from them, because she knew I intended to sell it. She and my father used to really enjoy the car when their health was better.

Seriously, where are you going to buy a classic with cold AC in this kind of condition for around eight large?
