New from NV

Hey everybody, my name is Mike. For Christmas this year I got my wife a 1972 Chevelle, it was a field car and needs a lot of work. But it is her dream car and I am no fan of easy projects.

A little about myself, I'm an Army recruiter right now, before that I was a combat engineer, I also have been messing with cars for my entire life, so I plan on having fun with the car

SS Shaun 12-30-2012 03:31 PM

welcome to the site! post of some pics of the chevelle :)

Welcome Mike. 1972 Malibu driver here. I like that you bought the car for your wife. She should become a member here too. Need to build some girl power. lol.. Can't wait to see the progress of your build.

Yeah it's her dream car, her dad had one when she was a kid and she has always loved them.

I tried to get her to join. Maybe I can get her to eventually

Welcome to the site. Looks like a fun project. Seems to be a lot of 72 owners here.

Small world. Welcome to the site from another Sapper. I'm working on a '64 SS myself.

I'm not in anymore. I was med boarded with a crushed spine. Most days you can't even tell. What unit were in?

Weazel 12-31-2012 12:29 AM

I was in the 63rd engineer company 11th engineer battalion, fort Benning GA

I am out on Recruiting duty because I trashed my ankle in Iraq, can't run anymore and I hate recruiting so I think I might get out

I was with 84th engineers with 2nd ACR in Ft. Polk when we stood up 4th brigade, 10th Mountain. Then I was with Alpha Company.

Thanks for all you have done as well. Recruiting isn't a super fun job, but with the economy the way it, at least it's a job. (it looks like it's gonna get rough this year.)

Howdy and welcome.

I was Air Force, but really, do you combat engineers really know how to put things back together, I thought you primarily destroyed things.

Sorry about the recruiter thing, I avoided it myself. I was much better at fixing radios than talking people into joining.

My sympathies that you had to be at Polk. My dads family is down in that area, about 20 miles from Polk, along 10 heading towards Oakdale. We left that area when I was still a kid.

Great progress. Love the pics.

Looks like you are making good progress. I have a friend who just got back his wife original 72 chevelle she had in high school and it too was sitting in some field. He just completed putting all new quarters on it and now is working on the patch work area's. Looking at your pictures, I'm guessing you are in the Reno area?

Weazel 07-06-2013 04:55 PM

Yeah, Carson city to be exact, I could make alot more progress but I only work at the shop on the weekends and I only mess with the chevelle on days when we play with our own stuff

I love the stance, it will roll all the way down but it can't steer and it would get stuck on a stick of gumAttachment 2733

You are making some great progress, especially if you are limited on the time you can put into it. Keep posting the pics.

Weazel 07-06-2013 10:59 PM

Yeah slowly but surely, luckily I have access to a fully stocked shop (tube benders, lift, welders, ever thing a boy could dream of) and I get help from my buddy
