1967 C10 pictures for flash...

Ok John, I finally made it over there today and got some decent pictures. It isn't much to look at yet, it's in pieces. I just finished fabbing up the exhaust system and hangers last week. Going to start disassembling this weekend so I can finish welding up the frame and get it ready for paint. Also have to finish welding up the exhaust and then clean up my welds before it gets coated. The doors, hood, and tail gate still need more body work, and then paint.

Here is the frame and running gear...

Wow. That looks pretty good. Can't wait to see it all done.

carpoor 02-20-2013 06:38 PM

Thanks, I feel it is pretty darn good considering the cramped spaces we work in. (limited time and money too)

I dug around and found some old pictures from roughly two years ago when we had just finished the frame and were mocking up the engine/transmission.

WOW ,I like it and am so jealous .I wish the bodyshop that has mine would get back on the ball .Cant wait to see it done and thanks for the pics ,it gives me inspiration for mine .

carpoor 02-20-2013 08:32 PM

Your welcome John. I have been helping him work on it since he bought it in 2007. To say it is a long term project... is about spot on. It started out as a complete, running truck. It had a stock frame, fleetside bed, a Buick 455/TH400 swapped into it, and a BOP 12 bolt rear. Basically, we used: the cab, wiper cowl, hood, grille, driver's door. The rest is either new, used later model, or hand-fabricated.

shadowgray396 02-20-2013 10:21 PM

Cool build

flash 02-21-2013 07:21 PM

I just cant stay away from this post ,something about these old trucks just clicks with me .I keep trying to convince myself to give up on mine and part it out but I have a small fortune tied up in it .Did I really type the word Small ,Im terribly wrong on that ,large fortune really .I miss my truck but I dont even like going to visit it anymore ,too depressing .

flash 02-25-2013 05:19 PM

I had to take my El Camino up to the muffler shop today and almost stopped by the bodyshop to see my truck .I decided not to as Im sure I would be disappointed with what I would see .

flash 02-28-2013 09:42 PM

I ordered a rebuilt tilt steering column for my truck a few days ago ,Im running out of room to store truck parts .Im really ready for the bodyshop to need all the stuff Im hording .

carpoor 03-01-2013 11:19 AM

Chassis should be painted next week. Pictures to follow. Still have to rebuild the rear axle and install a steeper ring and pinion. :D

flash 03-01-2013 03:41 PM

Keep the pics coming ,I enjoy seeing the progress .

carpoor 03-01-2013 04:17 PM

Will do, hoping to show some major progress by the end of March.

Ms Grumpy 03-01-2013 05:32 PM

flash, you must have quite a few parts for your truck if you are running out of room.

flash 03-01-2013 07:31 PM

Ms Grumpy ,I have parts in my basement (complete A/C system), parts in my upstairs (new grill ,outer grill ,emblems ,and cab gaskets ,new sliding back window ),my newly covered BuddyBucket seat in our home office as a love seat), in my shop (new core support ,radiator, inner fenders ,door panels, and a set of 5 restored rally wheels with new caps and bands and new tires as a new rear bumper .And I am still ordering stuff for it .

carpoor 03-07-2013 08:45 PM

More pictures, haven't done much due to the weather recently. We got the headers back from being coated today. I stopped by their house after picking up the headers, and John's last post prompted me to take a few pictures of their living room...

I love the pics ,thanks for sharing .

carpoor 03-28-2013 08:20 PM

Not much new to share, the weather has been a real hindrance for a few weeks now. I took these last weekend, hadn't gotten around to posting them. Frame is pretty much broken down and on a make shift rotisserie. (two engine stands) Have to finish cleaning up the bottom side and get it in primer. Also, if you look close there are some extra brackets. We built a set of cal trac style bars to control the wheel hop. There is still some finish welding to be done, and add a few gussets to some brackets.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psf1c850ac.jpg

With some good weather and a little luck, I'll have more pictures to post in about a week.

flash 03-29-2013 09:18 AM

You are coming along nicely ,keep the pics coming .Your place looks a lot like mine with truck parts scattered about .

carpoor 04-17-2013 01:17 PM

Painted the frame Monday, and got the one-piece door glass worked out this week. We weren't able to completely fill the void of the vent window with glass. The way the upper door hinge swings into the door itself prevents that. A sheet metal piece will have to be fabricated to complete the conversion. Here are a few more pictures for now...

Engine and transmission are back in the frame. Fuel and brake lines are run. Headers on and most of the exhaust is hung. Currently wet sanding and buffing the cab. And in the middle or rebuilding the rear axle, plus adding a 3.73 gear set. More pictures to follow as we make progress.

Ms Grumpy 05-11-2013 07:52 PM

It looks like you are making great progress. Thanks for the pic updates.

flash 05-11-2013 07:57 PM

WOW ,you are making great progress ,keep me posted with more as you go .
Thanks John

carpoor 05-11-2013 08:42 PM

Will do, with a little luck... might have the rear axle finished and painted this week. Also would like to get the front brakes assembled 100%. I would say a few more weeks before the cab is finished, then it can go back on the frame. I feel that once the cab and bed go back on - it will really start to look like a truck. In the current state, I think most people see it as a huge go cart. ;)

carpoor 06-13-2013 02:57 PM

Still wet sanding and buffing the cab here and there. It is slated to go back on the frame on the 22nd of this month.

I am so jealous of your build as mine is going nowhere ,mine may get the plug pulled on it .

Ms Grumpy 06-13-2013 06:23 PM

Wow..looks like things are going well in your build Carpoor.

What's going on flash (well maybe that is not the right question to ask). Is it the guys in the shop you have it at ?

flash 06-13-2013 08:31 PM

Its just not getting any attention at all ,about ready to give up and start parting it out .

shadowgray396 06-13-2013 11:25 PM

That is one cool looking set up. Love what you have done to it.

If I had the time and space, I would just have you bring it to me and finish it for you. Yours is more of a stock truck, easier build than this one. IIRC - September will be six years on this truck. (combination of time & money - lack of)

flash 06-14-2013 03:33 PM

Im back and forth on this truck ,I really have too much money and time invested to just give up and I know you lose your shirt on projects like it in piles and pieces but it has only been 2 years so I guess I will just have to give it more time and see what happens .I do love my old truck though ,what there is left of it anyway. I really wish I had not started a restoration on it and just kept driving it as a beater. Next time ,what am I saying ? No more next times for me ,No more projects I hope .

John...I may know someone local that would be willing to continue on with your truck project...

flash 06-14-2013 08:42 PM

Im afraid Im in too deep to change now .

flash 06-21-2013 11:19 AM

Ive got a guy wanting to buy my truck but I told him no that I could not come close to recouping my $$$$$$ spent already ,just have to be patient a while longer I guess.

carpoor 06-21-2013 08:20 PM

I'll be over there putting the cab on tomorrow, more pictures to follow.

carpoor 06-22-2013 04:34 PM

The cab and frame are one...

carpoor 06-23-2013 06:27 PM

Hoping to show you some pictures of it with the bed on next weekend. I stopped by after work today to have lunch with them and help install the back window. There is a lot of assembly to keep the old man busy for several weeks. He is waiting for the cooler weather to finish the body work and paint. The doors, hood, and tail gate are all that is left.

flash 06-24-2013 01:39 PM

I will be here patiently waiting on more pics .Im going to try to visit mine on thursday before we head out for Maryland .
