Bet its gonna be sweet when your done. Any idea on whats going under the hood yet ?

Notalent 01-12-2010 12:00 PM

Engine is already done. 496 Stroker Forged internals, 10.3:1 Compression, AFR 305 CNC Heads, Air Gap Intake, Custom Hyd Roller Cam, Pro System 950HP with 1000 metering carb flowing a true 953cfm etc... Hoping to dyno next week. Should be over 600hp.

shadowgray396 01-12-2010 06:50 PM

Looks like you are off to a good start.
Ray

Highway Star 01-12-2010 09:23 PM

Wow dude. That engine looks HOT!!!

Notalent 01-13-2010 09:09 AM

Thanks guys...I wanted something a bit different as far as the looks of the engine went. I am totally stoked with it. Finished removing ALL the suspension last night...only thing hooked up still is the break lines, valves and Booster. Going to pull it tonight. Brought all my control arms/components into work today to sand blast. Tomorrow I will bust out the wire wheel, degreaser and some sand paper and getting the chassis ready to primer. :)

450HP 01-24-2010 04:48 PM

Bet that 496 will rattle the fillings out of your teeth! :)

Scott

Notalent 01-25-2010 10:58 AM

Haha.. well...through the control arms, spindles, and other little pieces in the parts cleaner here at work, than sand blasted them, primered and painted them up. Now I have to finish working on the firewall so I can finish painting the front half of the chassis and that. From there I will start bolting her all back together :)

Piece by piece. Looking good Brand...:D

Notalent 01-25-2010 11:10 AM

Thanks...the firewall is going to be the "TASK" as I have to patch the cowl panel and deal with a bolt on my booster that will not come off for the life of me. Lots of wax I have to strip. I hope to have that done and painted by sunday. I really want to drop in the engine/trans by the 6th of Feb.

grandsport 01-25-2010 12:14 PM

You must have some talent to be able to do that.Waving

Herbie67SS454 01-25-2010 01:36 PM

Just good with my hands...I learned most of it by reading the Chilton Manual and the Manuals from Ground up :D I wish I had a bigger garage so I can do a real frame off...this will do for now until I buy a house and can really dig into her.

lev8trmn 01-26-2010 07:48 PM

You'll have to get us a "You Tube" shot of it when it's done so we can get the full effect sound and all!

Notalent 02-02-2010 09:44 AM

Will do! Getting the windshield pulled today so I can eliminate all the rust up by th dash and pillars. Going to POR-15 that area and than it will be ready to primer/paint.

Notalent 03-15-2010 11:52 AM

Looks much better now...wish I could have done a few other things to help the firewall look better (spot welds and ac patch panel) but I dont have the time nor money now. I should have the engine/trans in the frame rails this week and then will start to re install the new suspension :D

My buddies say this picture doesnt do it justice...made me happy.

Havent posted progress in a bit....have been outta town for the past month unfortunatley, but this is where she is at. Im back in town at home now and gonna start cranking again. Notalent 06-21-2010 09:18 AM

Made some more progress this weekend....all 4 wheels are finally on the ground, been a YEAR since its last seen that haha. Got the brakes done and hooked up, suspension polished off, steering linkage and the radiator support on. Going to keep on trucking this week and hope to have the body back on real quick.

Hank70SS 06-21-2010 09:31 AM

You're making good progress and the car is looking great. Hope you get it rolling soon.

RICKS70SS 06-26-2010 09:46 AM

fORGET THE CAR. THATS AN AWESOME MOTOR :)

Notalent 06-28-2010 08:47 AM

Thanks. She is damn sexy IMO. I will put my valve covers on later when shes running...didnt want to scratch them up during install. At a stand still right now....Dont have all the tools I need, there all back home in CA. Have to buy all new stuff here, its a bummer. I have to install a patch panel which I planned to do this weekend, but my buddy with the tools got sick and couldnt make it over. I was going to re install the brake lines, and there so old 2 snapped off and broke. Got to order new ones now....so not much further. If all goes well (please oh please) haha I should have the body on this week. Than its off to the exhaust shop for a new 3inch system and than order the driveshaft....

Im glad I have no wife or kids yet :D

Highway Star 06-28-2010 09:48 AM

Brandon, with that much power, shouldn't you be toying with the notion of a 3.5" or 4" exhaust system?

Notalent 06-28-2010 10:07 AM

I have been debating that.... some say 3 some say 3.5. If it was an all out race app I may do a 4inch, but its mostly going to be street and maybe the strip 2-3 times a month. Im going to confirm with PYPES before I order the kit and see what they recommend.

Notalent 07-02-2010 09:10 AM

Got the new Black Mountain Cog Belt system in last night and installed it....took all of 20 minutes, lined up perfectly and looks awesome IMO.

How cool is that !

I have said it before but i'll say it again. Thats gonna be one bad ass car.

Notalent 07-05-2010 08:34 AM

Thanks Grumpy :D I certainly cant wait to turn that key for the first time.....made some more progress. Got some buddys coming over this week to knock some stuff out. Having problems with the brake lines being stuck on the valve right now....have them soaking in penetrating oil to break them loose...should be back on the car tomorrow.

Notalent is quite TALENTED .

Notalent 07-08-2010 10:49 AM

You know...its always something...went to finish up the brake lines (purchased new from right stuff) and they switched the fittings to a smaller fitting...now I gotta go buy some adapters...another night slowing me down....Moving this weekend so I need BRAKES to roll her haha. Got the Pypes exhaust system ordered and have the rest of the body back on...I REALLY hope to have her running next weekend and than I can order the driveshaft.

DOK 07-14-2010 06:23 PM

Notalent 10-05-2010 08:20 AM

Body is back on...and im really tearing away at the car now. Body Alignment was a B*TCH!!! Took me a few days, but got it decent. Waiting for some radiator mounts and going to start wiring the front half of the car tonight :)
