Stock Drags in Stanton Mi Sept 12-14

Anyone else going, I think I'm going to take a ride out there tomorrow to see real drag racing.

That is cool that they are doing it live. It's only a little over a hour for me to be there so I think I'll make the drive to smell some burning rubber. The wife said she would go with me if I wanted, and I said thanks she did not have to do that, as I know she would not like the noise and smell.

I built my drivetrain to adhere to their rules, I will be racing next year!

Cool, if you come to Michigan and need some help let me know.

Do you play with Quadrajets? Cliff Ruggles did my carb, and I purchased a copy of his tuning for dummies book. But, it's still voodoo to me. I'm going to mess with it on a loaded chassis dyno before hitting the track. However, I will never turn down help from anyone more experienced.

Not really, I send mine out to http://www.smicarburetor.com/ with the spec on my motor and he build it for my motor and all I had to is to install it and follow his tuning tips and it runs great. I did the same for the Camaro this year and could not be happier.....no more QJet Boag.

Had a great time there today, it was great seeing these stock cars running with Bias Belted tires and no headers. The fastest cars there were the L88 Vettes and LS6 Chevelles.

Was keeping close eyes on the L78 Chevelles and they were running pretty close to 13 flat.

Really thinking about taking the Camaro there next year...it's slow but it completely stock.

Not sure if you got a flyer, but they are having a one day event on November 2nd. It will be held at Martin, MI. End of season event, and they even have a pre-planned rain date. (If needed) November 9th.

Did you happen to see a Glacier Blue 300 Dlx SS 396? I heard he went 12.1 on Friday. (L78/L89, TH40, 4.56)

Yes I did see it, I was running white walls bias belted tires, they did announce that it was a L78 with L89 aluminum heads and it was fast.

Beckman, the race at US131 in Martin is the 2nd of next month. Are you going to go? It's coming up fast.

RBeckman 10-21-2013 05:36 PM

Depends on the weather....

carpoor 10-21-2013 06:08 PM

Hopefully the weather holds and you get your clock fixed in time to go.

carpoor 10-31-2013 12:44 PM

Well Beckman, they cancelled due to weather. But, the 9th or 10th are possibilities - depending on weather.

RBeckman 10-31-2013 12:50 PM

It is cold and rainy here today and not a good outlook for the weekend.

carpoor 10-31-2013 06:49 PM

Was sunny and 85 degrees here today. Wish a few races were held down this way. We race almost year round.

carpoor 11-08-2013 08:18 AM

 It's on like donkey Kong tomorrow Beckman! Gates open at 9, racing starts at 10 tomorrow morning.

RBeckman 03-12-2014 07:28 PM

I was just glancing through my Jan issue of Hemmings Muscle Magazine and in the center fold there is a LS6 Chevelle and a GTO doing a great burnout and off to the right I could see me standing there watching....how cool

Do you think you will make it this year? I know I won't be able to swing the June race. Possibly the September event.

For sure, I had a great time and hopefully can get some of these Michigan guys /girls out to it. I might even be brave enough to bring the Camaro out, the only thing I need to do is change the tires and put the stock air cleaner and valve covers on and I should be ready to go per the rule book that I have looked at.

carpoor 04-18-2014 08:10 PM

Hey Beckman... you've got less than two months left before the Martin race. (June 13th & 14th) Has it thawed out enough for you to get anything done on the car?

RBeckman 04-22-2014 07:55 AM

It has been thawed out and the last of the snow is gone and hit 80 yesterday. As for Martin I will be out of the country for 2 weeks during that time.

carpoor 05-26-2014 07:29 PM

Looks like I am out too. Was hoping to make it as a spectator, but I am too tied up with school and work. Plus with the pay cut I took, things are tight. :(

carpoor 07-30-2014 04:28 PM

I am really trying to find a way to get up there for the fall Martin race. I got confirmation of a new "purpose built" car being added to the fray. Would love to see it make some passes in person.

carpoor 09-13-2014 12:53 AM

Hemmings had a shoot out Thursday for an upcoming article. A few people are already reporting new bests.
