Just Found You Guys

From a link on another chevelle based website.
I just recently was able to buy the car Ive always wanted,a 67 Malibu. Its a plain jane,283 powerglide car.62,000 miles and mostly all original. The p-p.o. had put a gm ss hood on it,and those bullet mirrors on it before a repaint circa 1977.Ill be switching the mirrors out,and starting the rebuild process soon I hope. And Ive also learned the pleated dashpad wasn't stock, lol.Switching that out too.

Cool ride, looks well-preserved. Welcome. Waving

Glad you found us. That's a nice looking car, I have a 70 but I'm a big fan of the 67's too, just don't have the room or money for more than one. Yes, that dash needs to go. :D

That is very similar to the first chevelle I fell in love with as a 15 year old kid except the one I had a chance to buy was a 4 speed SS car for $500 . My mom would not let me buy it even though I had the cash and I never did let her forget it.

Thanks guys. Its got a few paint bubbles coming thru, prolly from questionable bodywork back in 77.Luckily though, everything's there.

Welcome, nice looking ride

Welcome. Looks like you have a great place to start. I hope you post pics as you go along. It is always nice to see how the car has been preserved, especially with the low miles. And to see the progress as you go along. Can't wait to see and hear more.

I pic overload, lol,on progress threads.I just finished my 5 year battle with my 72 SS Camaro. It will be a slow start unfortunately,Im out of garage space at the moment. So,the 67 is sleeping outside right now.Im pouring a pad next to my shop, and have to fight my twp. for a roof, then I can switch out the Camaro for the chevelle and startup.I was looking to rotisserie this one.
Thanks again guys.
Chris

Any bodywork that lasts 36 years is NOT questionable. The factory paint and metal didn't last TEN years if it was redone in '77! You have a really nice car there. Sell the dash on Ebay. There's guys out there that would kill to have that. I'm looking forward to the build.

Kill for that pleated dash?I thought it was a JCWhitney special or something, lol.
By questionable,I meant using bondo before sealing thru holes. No one did it right back then, lol.

Wow, you put a lot of time an effort into the Camaro. Looks great, love the color and the stance of the car.

72LS3Z27 09-21-2013 04:12 PM

Thanks guys.I hope to do the chevelle even better, but keeping the original stuff as much as I can, like the drivetrain.Except for the tenbolt open end rear.I like moser 12s and I don't think the ten will be missed.Im also going to be painting this one.
I had wanted to learn how to paint on the last one,but had gotten an offer I couldn't refuse.
