Dead dog tired..making progress

Been here in Florida for 4 days now. Been digging trenchs for the underground plumbig. Lots of digging. I'm old and digging isn't fun anymore. I'm "mucho" sore. Got the entire drainage system piping installed, air tested, backfilled, and it passed inspection. Need some sleep. Been up way bofore daylight and workin till the sun goes down. Beats shoveling that 16-18-20 inchs of snow that you guys got though. I think.

flash 01-08-2014 08:30 PM

Congrats ,now go to bed and get some rest .

Ken Hayes 01-08-2014 09:20 PM

Sounds like fun Tony.............NOT!! You sound like a good candidate for Ben-Gay tonight. We finally got a break and it went over 0*.

FlintTony 01-09-2014 05:16 AM

I'm thinking that I have a pinched nerve in my back. Been looking at different excersises and doing them. Not working though. May have to find a chiropracter down here. More digging to do today. I have to run 80' of 2" conduit for power to the big garage and about 60' for the water supply.

shadowgray396 01-09-2014 07:27 AM

There's a thing called a ditch witch or a mini track hoe for that kind of work. I don't hand dig anything if I don't have too. Same reason getting to old and my time is better spend enjoying other things. Hope your back feels better.

Hank70SS 01-09-2014 07:43 AM

That's a lot of digging Tony, I couldn't do that. On the plus side you don't have to worry about frostbite. Had a dentist appt. yesterday morning, sure enough they plowed the street while we were gone. Filled the end of the driveway with a foot of heavy packed snow. My fingers were frozen just riding the tractor to clean it out. Think I'd prefer digging in the Fl sunshine.

FlintTony 01-09-2014 06:58 PM

Got some more done today. I decided to go with bigger doors in the shop building, so I had to move two posts. 6x6, 16 feet long, 3' in the ground. Man, they are heavy! I thought that would be easy. I thought wrong. Back feels better. Drank some good whiskey.

I hear ya Hank. I'm liking this weather a hell of a lot more than the stuff you guys are getting at home. I think Kathy is about fed up with snow.

Where are our pictures ? No pics /it didnt happen .

FlintTony 01-09-2014 08:14 PM

All I have is a couple of crummy videos that I made with my cell phone. I haven't a clue how to put them on here. I did make emails from them. I will try to figure out how to make pictures here from my cell.

Just upload them onto your "page" here. Then you can post the pics big, instead of having to click on them.

Sounds like you are having fun. lol Just not playing in the snow. I don't mind it now that the temps are rising, but the negative numbers were aweful.

Tony, just push the * and the # sign on your cell phone and say" load pics to chevelle forum" and it will automatically load them for you. It works better if there are other people around when you do it. Let me know how it works.

I don't know how. Will try something from my cell phone.

Looks great Tony. See your 2001 flip phone is smarter than the new smart phones. When you coming back home I'm sure Kathy is tired of doing your chores up here?

FlintTony 01-11-2014 04:33 AM

Oh, she is tired of snow shoveling, thats for sure. I'll be here another week. Concrete contractor is starting today, well guy is starting in a couple of weeks. We are going to be putting fence at my brothers house for a couple of days now. 3000 feet of fence. Should be fun.

Hank70SS 01-11-2014 07:24 AM

Once you get the fence up and Doug gets his herd of cattle we'll all come down and do some cow tipping.

flash 01-11-2014 09:52 AM

You are moving right along ,looking good.

Ms Grumpy 01-11-2014 02:40 PM

Looks like you are getting a lot done. I just want to see where you built the sand castles. :)

FlintTony 01-11-2014 07:56 PM

Another long day. Put in 6" wooden fence posts most of the day. Me and post-hole diggers don''t get along too good. They always want to hurt me. Today the won.

Concrete guys were at the job all day. They have all the footings dug and most of the floor space smoothed and leveled. If everything goes as planned, concrete will be done this coming weekend.

I may have to temperorarly remove about 50" of the 4" pipe from the garage to the septic, so the excavator can get back in there. I hope not.

FlintTony 01-20-2014 03:55 PM

I'm back home now. I got a lot more work done than I expected to. Here's some pictires, not in order though.

Looks good Tony. The only issue I see is the bum that is in the picture waving...once you feed them they never go away. Seriously though you look like you are beat and need to get home and get some rest and home cooked meal.

flash 01-20-2014 06:00 PM

Look great ,when do you plan to go back and do more ?

FlintTony 01-20-2014 06:11 PM

Oh yeah Ric, I was beat. 12 days of hitting it hard, turns out that when I fell up here a couple of days before I left, I knocked my pelvic bone on the left side way out of whack. That is what caused all the back and leg pain while I was working. Pinched nerves are a bitch. Flash, I plan on going back down in March to build all the interior walls and get the plumbing stacked out, set the tub and showers, and run all the water lines. I'm flying down next time. Way too much time wasted driving.

shadowgray396 01-20-2014 08:55 PM

That's a lot of concrete. Going to be a nice building when you are done. Nice to put a face to the name.

Hank70SS 01-21-2014 07:05 AM

Looking good Tony. Things are really moving along. Take it easy until you get your back in shape.

Hank70SS 01-28-2014 05:39 PM

So how you doing Tony, is the back getting better? Bet you're glad to be out of that miserable heat down there in FL. So much more refreshing here.

FlintTony 01-28-2014 05:58 PM

Hank, back is doing a lot better. Went to the saw-bones 6 times last week. I think he finally got it back in place on saturday. Doug called today, it was almost 80 degrees down there. He called a few days ago, bitching because it was only 58. MIL is still here. She may be going home in a few days. Man, I hope so. Sure changes a mans world when someone else moves in. Hows everything in your world?

shadowgray396 01-28-2014 07:38 PM

Glad ti hear it's feeling better. You need to give it a chance to heal before you work to hard again.

Ms Grumpy 01-28-2014 10:07 PM

Tony it is just amazing that you got so much work done being is so much pain. I am sure that once you got back here you wanted to be back in that weather down there. I hope you are able to get some rest and heal.

FlintTony 01-29-2014 05:02 AM

What was weird when I was down there is the harder that I worked, the better my back felt. I spent a lot of time bent over though. Until I tried to sleep. I was waking up every hour or so, couldn't find a spot to lay that wasn't killing me. I was doing stretches, jumping jacks, crawling around on the floor in the middle of the night. It was miserable until I got moving. I spent over 300 bucks at the Chiropractor down there too, but he didn't get low enough with his x-rays to find the real problem. I've had to plow 8 times since I've been back home. That tractor beats the shit out of my back, with all the ice under the snow. Thanks for the concern.

Hank70SS 01-29-2014 07:10 AM

Glad you're doing better Tony. I checked the weather the other day in Homestead, FL, high of 81. We'll be less than 10 miles north of there so that sounds great. As you can see the weather here is miserable, bitter cold or snowing or both. That old Bolens garden tractor I bought a couple years ago sure paid for itself this year.

I just hope we get enough of a break in the weather to get the motorhome loaded up and on the road. Don't really want to drive that to FL with the nasty weather they've had down south.

flash 01-29-2014 08:04 AM

Hey Tony ,when my back really hurts walking seems to help mine more than anything ,also laying on a flat concrete wall helps .Hope you are better soon ,but when I stop for the day is when I hurt the worst.

Ken Hayes 01-29-2014 09:34 AM

Hey John, how the hell do ya lay on a wall........LOL (I know what ya mean) Good luck Tony.

Tony, I'll save you on going to the doctor on this one it was the "Jack Daniels" that made you do this.

flash 01-29-2014 06:41 PM

The wall I refered to is a concrete retaining wall about 2 ft tall.

FlintTony 02-13-2014 06:10 PM

Getting some more done on the big garage. Had 22 more loads of fill brought in. Have to take out a few more trees too.
