On the subject of a 'smart' world...
I'm pretty sure everyone here has a cell phone and except for Tony, they're probably all smart phones. So how many of you can't go anywhere without your phone? How many have a panic attack if you discover you left it at home when you went out?
Last night we went out to dinner, Lynda, our son, his girlfriend and myself. So that's 4 phones, I know we each had one with us, but I didn't see any of them. They weren't in our hands or even on the table. We had an actual conversation, you know where people talk to each other, listen to each other and so on. But in the next booth the phones were out, no conversation. So I looked at the table over to my right, same thing, and the next table, ditto. So why not get carry out or better yet get it delivered? Then you can sit on your couch, eat your food and play with your phone and maybe watch TV too? If you don't want to talk to the people you're with why go out to dinner with them? Stay home and have a relationship with your phone. I'm sure you've all witnessed the same thing. It just kind of bothers me that people can't communicate in full sentences anymore. The extent of their language and communication skills is sending garbled text messages that require a secret decoder ring to decipher. |
I do carry my phone everywhere. And I admit I feel naked if I forget it. But if I with somebody like dinner I put it on vibrate. If it isnt life and death it will wait

Leave mine at home when we go out ot dinner most of the time. if I don't I turn it down. I agree you see kids that are 7 or 8 or younger now sitting at tables playing on phones. They text the person sitting next to them. The art of conversion is lost.

My phones are flip phones with no texting per my demand thru Verizon ,I sometimes have 3 on my side at times .I carry my own and at work Im required to carry theirs and then the week Im on call Im required to carry another one .Unless its work related or very important my phone stays on my side .I dont like this being always connected ,how did we ever make it without it ?

We used to take orange crates, some 2x4's and old style roller skates and make scooters. Some of our neighbors would block off the streets and we would have races. The whole neighborhood would get involved. They would make snacks and lemonade.................wish the old times were still here.

Well in defense of everyone else, they don't have anyone is interesting as Hank to talk to...i'm just saying.

I typically leave mine in the car, or have it on vibrate in my pocket. The only time I feel "naked" - is when I forget my gun.

On a side note Ric, I visited Guns Galore yesterday so get your M&P out and dust off the cobwebs. |
On the side note; I was there yesterday as well to look around....what did you end up getting?
|
Ended up with the Ruger SR9c. Fondled the M&P 9c, a Glock, Bersa, Sig Saurer, everything they had that was comparable to the Ruger. The Sig came close but the Ruger was the best fit/feel for my hand. Did a lot of research online and seems to be a pretty good gun. Heck most of them are good guns just a matter of what feels most comfortable to you.
Now Henry thinks he needs a semi-auto. He tried all the guns while we were there and he also liked the Ruger best. Like me he doesn't have big hands. So maybe the 3 of us can go to the range. Guess I took this way off topic, oh well it was my thread to begin with. |
Henry DOES need a semi-auto.

Bill, so far the SR9C has been good. A little over 500 rounds, 4 different types of ammo, no failures. Ric (Beckman) and I went to the range on Monday, he tried it and liked it, he's looking for a new 9 mm. He brought his M&P 22, bigger than the SR9C. Not a bad gun but I didn't care for the rear sites being just black. I had a hard time lining them up, it was overcast and rained on off while we were there.
Yesterday Ric, my son and I went to CPL training, same as CCW in other states. My son, he got the SR9C also, had one stove pipe with his. Limp wrist? I don't know, that's what he was thinking. Anyway, I think the Ruger was a good choice. Oh, it seemed when I got around to firing 100 rounds through it, the trigger seemed to stiffen up? Of course the gun is hot at that point, every experienced that? I'm sure things will loosen up over time. |
