Gas prices!

I can't believe the prices we're seeing and I know they're even cheaper in other areas. I filled up one of the cars today at Costco, $1.79 a gallon. Kroger is also $1.79 and we have over 800 fuel points. So I'll take the other car and some empty five gallon cans and pay around a dollar a gallon or less. Maybe it wasn't all that long ago but I don't remember the last time gas was less than $2/gallon, I do remember when it was around $4/gallon.

This is perfect timing since we'll be driving the pig of a motorhome to Fl in a few weeks. We'll spend hundreds of dollars less for gas than we did last year, more beer money!

BillsCamino 01-04-2015 05:44 PM

We paid $2.02 tonight to fill up my wife's Buick Verano...had to squeeze the last few ounces in to be able to round off the total to $25.

flash 01-04-2015 06:07 PM

Its at $2.12 here for now ,I like it and wish it would stay low for summer driving season .

carpoor 01-04-2015 06:27 PM

I paid $2.20 about 4-5 days ago. It hasn't been that low here since 2006.

I'm still amazed how some so-called economists think this is a bad thing. Maybe for the 1%, but it's great for us working class folks.

RBeckman 01-04-2015 06:43 PM

Hank, it is 1.77 at the Marathon station right across from Guns Galore here in Fenton.

shadowgray396 01-04-2015 07:27 PM

Best I payed was in Texas on my trip to Oregon was 1.89 earlier in December. We are still at 2.43 here.

Ken Hayes 01-04-2015 09:54 PM

Right down the street from me its $1.62. It varies around here $1.62 - $1.89. Would be real nice to see this or close to this all year long.

FlintTony 01-05-2015 05:13 AM

I filled up the truck at 1.59 yesterday. Anyone else notice how prices started to drop as soon as the Repubs took the House and Senate? Any co-relation?

Yet another good reason to visit Guns Galore.

? Something to think about.

mestorod70 01-05-2015 07:51 AM

Paid $2.34 for 87 octane this week here in floriduh.
I wonder if we will get the 10 cents jump back between the grades.
Right now 93 premium is $2.74 at the same station.

chevymaher 01-05-2015 09:46 AM

When ot first happened I thought the gas gauge on the truck went out. I thought there is no way 36 bucks filled this up.

shadowgray396 01-05-2015 10:29 AM

I found gas was cheaper east of New Mexico and the farther west I went it got higher

FlintTony 01-05-2015 05:46 PM

It was 1.54 this morning. This afternoon, the bastards raised it to 2.09. I wonder what excuse they will have for that move, as crude went under 50 bucks a barrel today.

Um? The new republican congressmen took office yesterday. Guess that blows your theory all to hell.

BillsCamino 01-06-2015 02:47 PM

Not sure which is falling faster...
The price of a gallon of gas OR the Stock market. :(

I think not, sir. Flat ass GREED is what made the prices go up. Oil is at 47 bucks a barrel today. Lowest price since the POS took office. And the POS said today he will veto the Keystone pipeline. I'm fixin to call you in a minuet.

Doh! For some reason I was thinking this was Wednesday, they took office today. It's tough when you're retired, every week the same, 6 Saturdays and a Sunday.

I don't get the relationship. They say the low oil prices are driving the stock market down but that should only affect oil producers. Yes it affects U.S. oil production because we can't produce oil and make a profit at those prices but what about all the pluses for the rest of the economy. U.S. oil production is only a small part of our economy. Think about all the business and individuals that benefit from low prices?

Okay, okay, but you said prices were down since all the republicans got elected. All I'm saying is that ain't helping the gas prices since they're going up again. Oil prices are down because Saudi Arabia, the biggest producer of oil, refuses to cut production. It cost them $10-$15 to produce a barrel, U.S. producers need the price above $50 a barrel to make a profit. Not sure what their end game is, drive the U.S. producers out of business? I don't know what their motivation is but they're the reason crude is selling at $47 a barrel.

Oh, see you at the end of the month. Glad things worked out.

I think OPEC's actions have something to do with fracking in this country. They absolutely do not want us to be self sufficient.

JMHO

You're probably right. If we start producing enough oil they, particularly Saudi Arabia, will lose their control of the global oil market. I say Saudi Arabia in particular because OPEC in general wanted to cut production in order to raise prices, the Saudi's refused.

carpoor 01-08-2015 08:48 AM

Just paid $2.119 - it needs to keep going until it's $0.999!

Hank70SS 01-08-2015 04:09 PM

Price jumped up over 10 cents a gallon right after I started this post. Now it's come back down some, about 6 cents more than last week.

carpoor 02-15-2015 04:20 PM

I paid $2.259 a gallon today, that's just over $0.30 per gallon more than it was. Still under $50 to fill my truck. (Which is nice, but I still wish it was $0.999 per gallon)

shadowgray396 02-15-2015 11:30 PM

It's jumped about 0.21 in the last week here.

shadowgray396 03-02-2015 09:15 AM

Gas jumped up to 2.60 a gallon this week. We get our gas from the Califorina refineries. Went up 0.25 in less then a week and may still be rising.

flash 03-02-2015 11:08 AM

Ours is hovering at $2.29 right now .

BillsCamino 03-02-2015 03:12 PM

Still enjoying the lower prices compared to a year ago.
Beginning the end of next week I'll be buying Petro in Euros...

Will do John although I won't be driving Liam's Chevelle in the parade this year...missing that for the FIRST time as you know.
We'll be flying Dublin to Rome later that day and beginning a 10 day eastern Mediterranean cruise...Italy, Greece, Turkey.

Hope ISIS don't get us...

carpoor 03-02-2015 09:52 PM

Paid $2.389 today, it keeps creeping up every week.

Hank70SS 03-03-2015 07:37 AM

Around $2.45 in south Fl.

BillsCamino 03-03-2015 03:21 PM

Paid $2.15 this afternoon...filled up the truck. Can't remember the last time I gassed it up.
Only got 5K miles on it including a round trip to Charlotte last Sept...6 months old next week.

shadowgray396 03-05-2015 08:57 AM

It now at 2.90 here. Claiming the problem is in California. I wish every time I had a problem at work I could raise my rates up or down.

Ken Hayes 03-05-2015 10:19 AM

We went from $1.80, overnight last week to $2.25 and are now down to $2.02.

BillsCamino 03-05-2015 01:21 PM

Quick Trip station off I-575 here had $1.92/gal yesterday.
Roller coaster prices...

FlintTony 03-10-2015 06:08 PM

1.87 here this morning, 2.39 just a few minutes ago. Thieving bastards. No reason in hell it should spike like that in a few hours. We found a station that was just about to jack the price, got it for the 1.87. Kathy spotted the sign. She has better eyes than I do.

Maybe you should take something for that glaucoma.

Ken Hayes 03-11-2015 11:13 AM

Or trim your beard.............hehehe.

shadowgray396 03-16-2015 10:07 PM

Dropped down to $2.75 this week.

Ms Grumpy 03-17-2015 07:19 PM

Paid $2.22 yesterday. I am not looking forward to the gas prices creeping up again.
