What have you done to your other vehicles today.
I made this thread on the Van site. Generally car people work on other things besides the vehicle in the forum in question.
It went over well there and may or may not here but it a outlet for your other loves. Now I put the new engine in the van. Then the cat was splitting at the seams and getting noisy. So I researched and mix and matched parts. Some custom stuff. Made a exhaust that was more fitting to the engine in there. It still a single exhaust but I eliminated alot of the useless tight turns the factory had for no apparent reason. Bought a new welder for the project because the U Bolt clamps were not sealing enough to please me. Made pipe hangers to go in the factory locations. I don't have access to the welder I used to use anymore. And I just needed one. Now I can weld up the custom seat catches I got laying there for the chevelle. I had them made and they work I just wanted them welded so the threaded holes didn't wallow out and come loose. Additional 2 inch recline with the seat catches working like factory. Now I got my domestic duties caught up I can figure out what to do on the chev next. I gonna move it and scrub the floors. Now that it looks like something all this dust got to go. |
Since I still don't have my car out of storage yet because my garage is full of hubby and son's BMX bike collection I have nothing more to keep up than my other vehicles. I don't know if you guys know but grumpy does not drive anymore unless it is the only resort. So I am responsible for all 3 of our vehicles.
I purchased a 2003 Suburban late in the fall and now that the winter is over I need to get some work done. Both side mirrors seem loose and this may sound cheesy but I have them zip tied to make them more stable. I have been researching replacing them and the parts are going to dip into my car funds more than I wanted. I have a rattle that I am going to find.. One of those that is just annoying, probably something that is just loose it is hard when you are in a big vehicle and everyone else says..I don't hear anything. Then there is my gas mileage vehicle. The little Toyota Yaris. It is a 2008 and only has about 40k miles but I still have to take it in to have "normal" service done at the dealership. I know I should sell this one, but it is always nice to have a backup even though all my kids are almost 6' tall and don't really fit in it anymore. lol |
All I have done lately is put the Malibu in the shop for corrected speedometer gears ,its still off a little bit but much better than before .I have just been driving the others when weather is a little better ,seems like it does nothing but rain here .
|
Moved the F150 and Sprint around this morning...first time I've ran the Sprint in well over a month due to doing some traveling.
Moved it to make room for a '65 Malibu SS convertible which is getting an engine & trans swap tomorrow morning. Out with the 283/PG...and in is going a Vortec headed 350HO crate/TH350. |
Nancy, check Rock Auto and Amazon.
|
I noticed yesterday the ol van was getting jealous of the chev again. Wanted her time. I parked with the tire cut. I seen a different color and checked it. Yep was through the rubber to the harder rubber underneath.
So today she got a new pair of shoes. |
I drove the Good truck to work today ,just got it put away .
|
Dropping the wife's Buick off at the body shop tonight so they can begin the hail damage repair hopefully using paintless dent repair.
Gotta drive my F150 to the Peach State Chevelle show in the morning to do the show pics. Then the F150 heads to ATL airport EARLY Sunday morning. Flying to San Diego for the beginning of a two week vacation...final destination Denali/Fairbanks, AK. https://www.travelalaska.com/~/media...GlacierBay.jpg |
It's mother's day, but I plan on doing some more deconstruction on my wrecked truck. :( I know it needs to be done, but I get that sick feeling in my stomach all over again every time I see it.
Then the process of swapping everything over to the "new" truck begins. (Engine, transmission, rear axle, wheels, interior, etc.) At this rate, I won't be doing much to either Chevelle this year. |
I finally got some parts ordered for the 81 Trans Am ,hope to get it running soon.

More deconstruction of my poor truck today. :(
I also went over and worked on the LeMans as well. It should be running soon. :D |
Got the T/A to run briefly by pouring gas in the carb ,dont have the fuel line hooked up to the carb yet as I need to get the dead gas out of the tank .Dont want to run that crap through the newly rebuilt carb .
|
Spent several hours working on getting the truck apart. Still so much to do, I'm being extremely careful, trying to save every little piece that I can. You never know when you'll need a bolt or clip of some sort.

Spent a big chunk of the day polishing up my wheels, then swapping them onto the replacement truck. What an attitude adjustment, the picture speaks for itself. Spruced up the old work truck nicely.

Like the look also

Thanks. Somehow, as a side benefit... it rides smoother too. Not sure how, I went from a 16" wheel with 265/70-16s to 18" wheels with 265/60-18s front & 275/60-18s rear. Less sidewall, and heavier wheel and tire combo.
|
It does look very good .
|
I towed the Chevelle home from my neighbor's house yesterday. Worked on the old motorhome Saturday and Sunday so I can sell it. Details to follow in another thread.
|
I took the 55 Nomad out to a small show today and beat the hell out of it. Feels good to run that thing hard.
Anxious to hear the Chevelle story Hank. |
Went to the Michigan F body meet today in Milford and got 2nd place for best 2nd Gen Camaro...this is the 3rd 2nd place I have gotten at this show.

Sweet. Congrats! |
I bet you would get 1st place if the clock worked!
|

If he would have kept his appointment for the warranty work, that stinkin clock would have been fixed years ago. But no, he has to keep me awake at night knowing that I sold a "defective" car to him. |
Congrats Ric, just fix the damn clock and get 1st place next year. Sounds like Tony is one of those used car salesmen that will promise the world then find a way to weasel out of it.
|
So, I just told Kathy about Ric getting second place at the show. I shit you not, she said "He would have gotten first if the clock worked"!!
|
Apparently everyone but Tony realizes just how important a working clock is.
|
All our other toys are at home in the Toybox while we are traveling with the Malivert ,currently in the Nashville area until in the morning .
|
I was going to say something about the clock but I did not want to put any stress on Tony as with all his cleaning and cooking chores at home while Kathy is recovering might put him over the edge....as for the warranty I was still saving for the deductible when it ran out of time.
|
Thanks for thinking about my stress level Ric. I had to have another nuclear stress test last Wed, as my stinkin heart is acting stupid again. You would think the Docs office would tell me the results quickly, but due to that joker in the White House and his ridiculous obamacare, they don't have enough people in the office anymore. It now will take 7-10 days instead of one or two days.
Kathy is back to doing her regular stuff around here. She starts PT this week for the second time. How about I take a picture of the "High Noon" pocket watch tattoo that I have on my left arm and send it to you. You can paste it over the clock face in the Camaro. The time would be correct twice a day, same as now, only prettier. |
Glad Kathy is doing well, giver her our best.
We have an old school house clock with pendulum in the basement. It's a little big but I think it would add a touch of class to the Camaro. |
Well Tony I hope they figure it out as I know what you are going through. I'm thinking I need to go back in as I have zero energy lately.
|
Both you guys need to get your shit straightened out. Back to the Bricks and Autofest wouldn't be any fun without you. So get with it and get better, or I'll be driving kathy's Nomad and Leslie's Camaro around. I'd drive Leslie's Chevelle too but I already have one. How about the Nova Tony, where's that at now? I'd love to drive Kathy's Nova.
|
Ha, the girls are so lucky to have you around to drive the cars...but I'm concerned about my Chevelle not being driven. Note: the Camaro will need a clutch soon and a clock.
|
Im in Indiana and heading for Michigan in the morning ,I can take the Camaro off your hands so you dont have to worry about the clock.
|
Quote:
Hank, the Nova is running great. Come on up and take it for a spin before I drop dead. That way, I can fix whatever you wreck on it. John, where at in Michigan are you going? Come on up and have a coffee, a beer, or a smoke if you have time. What the hell, you can drive the hot rod or the Nomad. Gotta save the Nova for Hank. |
Tony I won't wreck the Nova and if I did I'd fix it so don't worry about that. You and Ric just need to get checked out and stay healthy.
Couldn't remember where the Nova was. Doug bought it then you bought it back, right? |

Hank, I sold the Nova to Doug. He drove it for a few months, then all the shit started with the HOA in Florida. I traded Doug the two lots we had next to his place for the Nova back.
Ric, I'll tell ya what I'll do for you on the clock. I have a brand new 10 1/2" clutch and pressure plate, fine spline, that I'll GIVE to you if we can forget the clock doesn't work. Possibly restore my credibility in the used-car sales department? On my way to get the fifth shot in my knee this morning. Doing all I can to keep the stock parts in there. I do not want to get the knee replaced, so I hope this works. |
