Looks Like I'm Going To Be Out Of Commission For A While
 

No playing with cars and trucks for a while , it looks like I'm going to be spending lots of time in Dr's offices and hospital .I have been having severe back pain for a long time now and finally decided to find a new Chiropractor as I got to get some relief from the pain .I went yesterday and had ex rays taken and met with him today at 5:30 after work ,he wanted to take more ex rays as he did not like something he saw .After reviewing the 2nd set of pics he showed me an area that looks like a broken bone in my lower back in a very dangerous area at my tailbone that could puncher my spinal cord if I had any kind of fall . The pain has been very hard to bear and he recommends me seeing an orthapaedic surgean ASAP .He said no Chiropractor would normally recommend surgery for any reason but it was probably my only hope .I have never had any kind of surgery and dread the thought of it but I'm looking forward to getting some relief hopefully soon .I will keep ya'll posted as I learn more in the near future .I have not felt like playing with any of my toys for a while now but will continue to follow what ya'll are up to on your projects .Sorry for such a long post but had to tell someone and ya'll are all I got .

In fact, she just saw Dr Kelly last Wed...he does all the Pro Sports teams here in town.

Thanks guys ,I saw the surgeon yesterday and will be having an MRI as soon as insurance approves it .He had a batch of x rays done and said he could help me but will decide which way to proceed after the MRI is done .He did say he might be able to give me cortisone shots instead of surgery depending on how bad things are.

Last week I had x rays done and they did not like what they saw .They have me set up for an MRI tomorrow afternoon and then I see Dr. Kelley again on Thursday to see what happens next .I have been trying to get my yardwork slowly done before he tells me I cant do that for a while .

Man, that is a kick in the nuts John! I sure hope they can get you feeling better and fixed permantly. If I were closer to you, I'd be more than willing to help any way I could.

Hope they can give you some positive news when you see the doctor.

Got the MRI done ,boy that sucked big time ,very loud . I see the Dr. tomorrow to see what the next step is.

Had an MRI on my shoulder several years ago, it is loud. If you have access to a tractor ask Tony how you can fix your back with it, he's fixed his a couple of times.

Seriously, I hope they fix you up like new. I've had kidney stones and a fractured pelvis but I know back pain is the worst so I can only imagine. Good luck John.

Bill ,I really like him and had heard good things about him before my first visit . I look forward to getting my back pain eased off .

Well I got my answer on my back situation today and it does not come as a big surprise .I need spinal fusion and he had an opening on May 3rd and I took it .I go back in next wednesday for all the pre op stuff and we go from there ,Im ready .

Good luck. I had back surgery 6 years ago to fix a ruptured disc. I was able to avoid fusion surgery so far and just had a discectomy. I have been much better since the surgery and hope you will be too.

Good luck John. Hope your recovery is a short one. Just don't try to over do it to quickly.

I have been fighting a cold since Friday ,called in sick today and Dr called me in some meds to help me get over this crap .Go tomorrow to Atlanta Piedmont Hospital for Pre Op ,whatever that involves .Then the surgery happens on next Tuesday and Im sure they will tell me what approx time it will happen.

Pre opp normaly is blood work...EKG...and chest xray.
You may be given surgical soap to use for a few days to kill any staph on the body.
Hope all goes well for you and gets you back up and running.

Wont be able to make the PeachState show this time Bill ,trying to stay close to home to get a few things done while I still can .

Got all my bloodwork done today as well as met with the surgeon and got all the check in stuff taken care of .I have to be there at 5:30 AM tuesday for them to get me prepped and go in the OR soon there after.

Tomorrow is my last day of freedom for a while ,check in to hospital at 5:30 AM Tuesday to get prepped for surgery .I dread it and look forward to it at the same time .I will check in when Im up to it though .

John's surgery went very well...he's in recovery right now and if all goes as planned, he should be released from the hospital on Friday.

Guy's ,Im really shocked at how good my back feels after the surgey .Im sore from the surgery but the old pain and the pain in my legs is gone .Many prayers were answered today and Im very thankful .
