Why no traffic on this site?
Why the lack of traffic on this site?
This site works so much better then the other broken down Chevelle site yet everybody stays on it.. I don't understand? |
It used to be pretty active ,I still check in daily though .I kind of lost interest when my wife died but Im getting back into it slowly .I just need to get her Malibu back roadworthy .
|
I check in daily, but usually just don't have anything to add. About that other broken down site, I have been there for 17 years, I think. I took the site off my favorites list and will most likely never go there again. It has become a real pain in the ass with the corporate owners. Every time I go there, nothing but aggravation trying to log in, the "new" site is junk, and most of the guys that I had conversations with are gone too. It would be nice to see more of the old regular guys from there show up here.
|
I haven't been on that other site in over a year. They sent me an email, said here's you new password. Tried to log in with it repeatedly with no luck. Was going to email back and tell them then said why? I never go on that site so why bother.
As for this site, I do check in but have been busy. Painting inside when raining, working outside when nice. Plan is to go through the whole house while I can still do this crap, then we're done. The 3 bedrooms and both baths have been remodeled. Kitchen, eating area and hallway are painted. Just have the family room, dining room and living room on the inside. Oh, and the downstairs half bath. New deck railings and stairs, shutters and a new front door. Then the outside will be done. We went camping over Memorial Day, no internet, no cell service and no TV. It was nice. Then we just got back last Tuesday night from a week in LA visiting with our daughter. We've also been busy dealing with people for some landscaping, new sidewalk in front and new patio in back. Thursday we head back up north for the 4th of July weekend. Again no internet, cell, or TV. Just beer, food, guns and fireworks. What could go wrong? I backed the Chevelle out of the garage a few weeks so we could clean it out, that's been it. Hopefully next month things will slow down but I know it probably won't. Like I said, get this done while I can still do this stuff then hopefully sit back and relax until they stick me in a home. |
Like everyone else, I check it almost daily, but don't have anything to add. It's hot, humid, rains almost every day. I am in no mood to do much. Plus, work is picking up... damn 4th of July weekend.
2-2.5 months of this crap, then hopefully the weather cools down and my motivation returns. I have been doing indoor things... gun range, gym, napping with my dogs. |
Me to I am here every day. I am working on my boat at the moment. Chevelle got one more semester of college before I go back to it. Books a nd tuition before car parts. But i did sit in it and play the radio yesterday LOL.

Just so busy with the new Job even though this was suppose to be my wind down job but there are so many cool things I'm involved with and I'm sure knowing that in the next couple years I will retire for good I want to go out on top knowing I really made a difference.
Plus I have been into the Jeep aftermarket at work that I spend a lot of time on those forums working on those work issues with our new product launches. This is my ride on some weekends going to Jeep outings. Attachment 4174 Attachment 4175 |
I had surgery today and when I get back home Im going full blast getting Joan's Malivert back on the road .She would be mad at me for not taking better care of her pride and joy ,just been too much going on to keep up.
|
I check every few days, I like the respectable people here better than the other side, but seem to read more on the over there. I do wish this had more traffic.
|
The dark side does seem to strive to be as rude and annoying as possible doesn't it?
|
Yes very rude and disrespectful. There are a some good people there, but they are out numbered. I can't believe how many negative comments people get when they post or talk about their car. Here I have not seen any negativity and everyone seems supportive.
My cars not perfect never was never will, but I enjoy it and appreciate any one who has the same interests in this hobby. |
I agree it is your car do what you want. If you like a chevelle enough to deal with its age. And work with it. Then your all aces in my book. The mere fact you are doing it make you a kindred spirit to me.
I spent hours washing waxed mine. Moisturized the top. Detailed the dash. Did in the doorjambs and trunk under the hood. And it just sits there waiting for me to get money to finish it. I love my car I never get to drive it. Only way anyone ever sees it is to come over. I just like looking at it. One day it will be done. This place is a refreshing oasis of tolerance for doing what you want to do with them. Not make it my way so I can rob you buying it and sell it and make a fortune off of it. Which when you get to the root of things. That is all they are doing on the other site scamming. It isn't about the cars or the people involved. It is only about how much money they can make playing their games. |
yellow69 ,do I know you ,I go to the Northern Ohio Chevelle Show every year ,do you belong to that club ?
|
Flash,
Don't believe so, I live south of Columbus, Ohio. I haven't been to the Chevelle show nor am I a member, but heard that's a great group of people and they have a good show. I used to be a member of the Central Ohio Chevelle owners, but that club has disappeared. I hope to make it sometime to the Chevelle show, but don't know if and when. Maybe this year I can pop in for a day. |
Chevymaher, Love the 68, my first car in high school was a 68 malibu.
This is my prom night 88/89. http://i903.photobucket.com/albums/a...psiuvowwpf.jpg |
Thank you. I had a 68 in high school. My third car. It looked like yours. It was midnight blue. Some 66 chevelle color. For all intents and purposes it was black tho. Unless you looked right into it in the sun.
That was a nice car you had. |
Well I'm back from the July 4th weekend. We'll still be pretty busy for the next month then hope and pray things slow down. If you guys want I can check in everyday and bash somebody and be disrespectful. Maybe that will bring more traffic. Seems the internet and a keyboard brings out the worst in a lot of people and they look for a place to unleash.
Of course you'd have to look for a replacement pretty quickly because I'd give up this site like I have the other. Guess we'll have to be content with this small group of people who respect each other and the hobby. I never met most of you personally but feel like I have friends out there that I would like to meet in person. The 'other' site use to be like that. I met Tony, Ric, Ray Barnes on the 'other' site as well as Darren while in Hawaii and Rich in while in California. Don't even remember their screen names but both are great guys. Wish they would have stuck with this site longer. |
I haven't been able to log in on the other site also. Plus it run so slow with my system. I've hanging more on face book Chevelle site these days. Car hasn't been out of the car for the last 6 months. To busy trying to get things done these days. Grand kids are keeping us really busy.
|
My Chevelle is in the shop now getting some attention ,may drive it to Ohio ,may be my last time going .
|
Hey Hank, if you want someone to "bash and be disrespectful" to, I'm your huckleberry. Have at it.

Yellow 69, my first Chevelle was a 68 too. Plain Jane Malibu that had a 307 powerglide when I got it. I put a hopped up 350, 4 speed in it and beat the snot out of it. I got in so much trouble with the law, I sold it to my Brother and bought a brand new 72 Ford Econoline van. Next one was pretty nice 69 SS, 325 horse, burnished brown, auto. Sold that one and built another 68.
|
Tony ,its just too long a drive with no company ,cant find anyone else to ride shotgun ,I know I will have fun once I get there ,its the getting there part .It will also be the first time going since Joan died .
|
John, I am thinking that will be a long trip for you. I understand fully about Joan not being there. Can you think of anyone that might like to ride along? Any younger guys in your neighborhood that have an interest in the older cars? Got a buddy that would like to get away for a few days?
|
You know ,it is very strange now days to be me ,everyone that used to like to hang around with me has found an excuse to not since Joan died .Maybe people dont know what to say or do but I can tell you it makes for a lonely time .Nobody wants to travel either .My great nephews like old cars but they are too busy with sports to think of anything else .

I need things I got to buy. Interior and either rebuild this 454 I got or buy a crate one. I got belt drives both big and small block alt and starters everything just about except one thing. A drive shaft. Just the shaft would do. I got yokes. But other than motor and interior from the dash back. Dash as you know is finished. It is basically done. I got the rear seat frame. It has the buckets in it. They are not horrible but I am going to recover them. Like I said I am in hobbyshop prison since my wife went to college. I got one more semester and after that she be working. It will get done fairly quickly after that. I do got a almost perfect complete set of 68 chrome left over tho. Heater core and a under the hood air unit to a 69 year I think but it is close. I bought it for mine. But got the el camino parts car and it had one. new 68 antenna but i went with the in windshield 69 type. She does look sweet to me down there tho. Freshly waxed. I can say it is exactly what I always wanted. Colors stripes stereo all options I always dreamed of. Power everything and air. You know chevelles were always basically optionless if they were performance oriented. Which was why I sold the SS and kept the malibu parts car in the first place. It was my dream car. I purposely picked options and chrome from any years I pleased. Just tried to make it look like it could have been a factory set up. I been oggling her. Like a high school date when she says she got to go home while petting. So close yet so far LOL. I am restoring that boat I got now to. Needed stringers and transom. So I am keeping busy. I am grinding out the hull at the moment. That will keep me busy till school lets out. Once you get used to doing this stuff it is hard and boring not having some project going on all the time. Couple pics of her. She she isn't being neglected. Gets cleaned more than any other car that never moves LOL. https://s5.postimg.org/4ogj2tyon/P_20170702_110542.jpg https://s5.postimg.org/m30rb3vtj/P_20170702_110605.jpg |
Chevymaher, that is one beautiful 68. I've had only a few chevelles and love my 69, but there is no better looking rear of a car than a 68. I love the taillights on a 68, aluminum grill, 68/69 ss hood. Get that baby done and enjoy it.
|
That car is beautiful. You do nice work. If I had an extra engine sitting around, I'd give it to you just to see that beauty done.
|
Thank you all. She will get done. She is teaching me alot of patience.

I have been so busy with the move and we have had internet problems.
I just have to get back to pimping the site and it will pick up again. |
Hope you and Dave are doing well, good to hear from you.
Got a call yesterday that my uncle passed away. So we had to go up to the Masonic home in Alma, Mi. Just went by there a few days when we went up north for the 4th. Had tp go through his personal belongings and bring home some it. Except for the bed all the furniture was his. Some we donated to the home some we hauled home. We did stop and see him Memorial day weekend but not this time. All he wanted to do was sleep and be left alone. Guess he passed peacefully during the night so that was good. Busy day, busy week, busy month. I'm sure it will slow down eventually, damn well better. |
I went through that recently. My brother in law died. He was only a year older than me. I was down and not really online posting. I didn't because my temper was not what it should be.
I am recovering finally. |
Like my Brother says. we know more dead people now than we know alive ones. Condolences to both of you guys.

this is a 68 malibu that i saved from sitting outside under a canvas tarp
it sat under the tarp for 7-years before i could purchase it. it had a 307/2bbl/glide combo that caught fire, i think they just walked away from the car; after having it for several years and driving it in a damaged condition this is what i ended up with before it was sold. ss-hood; m21; 350-crate; 12bolt-3.55; not quite finished when sold, it was fun car and an investment |
Love it. My favorites are the 68 and the 66. I had 7 66's as it was my first car. The 68 I grew up in mom and dad had one. Blue with black vinyl top. Wonder where my cars colors came from? LOL. This is my second 68. I have had many chevelles of anything earlier than 69 before the prices went stupid.
