Trapping a wild hog?
 

There is a wild hog or two tearing shit up on our place back at the river. Kathy set up the trail cam and got some pictures of them. The guy that brings the cows over brought a trap last night to catch him. I'm heading back there as soon as it gets a little lighter out. This should get interesting.

Set up a wild hog hunt, you could make some money off this.

I aint going to sit out there in that mosquito infested swamp half the night. He showed up around 11 the first time and around 4 the second time. That swamp is a spooky SOB!! There are sounds coming from there that I have no clue as to what they belong to.

You are welcome to come shoot that bastard if I don't trap it tonight.

Tony... I may take you up on that. I have some good friends that are big on hunting them and making bacon. I have yet to go on a hog hunt, but I hope to. And I want to learn to field dress and butcher the animals. I am not at all in favor of killing for sport.

I just spoke to them, one is going to be in south Georgia for a hog hunt tomorrow. But, after that... game on. These aren't some goofballs, a few of them are retired special forces. They live to stalk and kill the enemy. ;)

The guy that brought the trap is going to Georgia this morning to deer hunt too. He showed me some pictures of the ones he's killed up there. Much bigger than they are here.

No pig in the trap. I'm thinking this ol pig is smarter than I thought. I figured that he would be all over the apples in the trap. Perhaps he isn't a "vegan"?

Seriously, in the middle of a swamp in the dark does sound a little spooky. Even here at night can be a little spooky. We don't have sidewalks or street lights and you wonder what's moving around out there when you hear things.

So what's going on? When is this pig roast?

No pig yet. Had a bunch of apple peelings in the trap, but the stinking coons ate all of it. Went and bought a bag of corn and it's still there. A few days ago, I heard a bunch of gunshots before sunrise just down the road. I'm wondering if someone else killed the bastard? Pig hasn't showed up on the trail cam for a few days, sooooo.

That's what it's looking like. Haven't seen him on the trail cam lately. Lots of other critters, but no hog.

We have been cleaning up all the trees and branches that the hurricane knocked down along the river road. There are some big ass branches hung up in the other trees. Not sure how I'm going to get those ones down.

Got the big ass branches down. I put the ladder in the box of the Gator, climbed to the next to top step, wrapped a sling around the branch, hooked a tow chain to the strap, and pulled the bitches right down. You Tube material, I tell ya.

You've turned into a real redneck Tony. I think I would have let nature take care of it.

No pig. One got hit by a car a quarter mile down the road. Sure makes a mess!

Got more tree limbs cut down and brushed out back at the river. Hank, you remember that woods that was in the front of the house, where you parked the motor home? It's gone now. Cut all but the bigger trees down, pulled all the vines, and raked the ground with the tractor. Sure looks different now.

Kathy has the trail cam set up in a different spot. Got an 8 point and a 6 point living back there. The 8 point looks pretty big for deer size down here.

You ever going to slow down and enjoy the place Tony? I shouldn't talk, been working outside here for months. If the sun ever comes back out I'll take some pictures of our summer projects.

Oh I am enjoying the place. I just like to keep busy. Plus I worked off over 20 pounds last year and want to lose a few more. I'm wearing jeans that I haven't worn in 20 years. You know how I save everything!


I would like to see some pictures of your work. Did Henry get to the Justice of the Peace yet?

We're supposed to have some sun this week, maybe I can get some pics. No justice of the peace yet. We don't bother asking anymore.

Tell Henry that "I know a guy" that will come to his garage and perform the ceremony for him. Cost would be a half gallon of Black Velvet.

I'll let him know Tony. Based on Heathers income and 2 kids Henry figured out it would cost them over $10,000 to file taxes as married rather than single. Think that may be part of the delay.
