Checking In
Hi everyone , I check in here daily but just aint into the Chevelle or El Camino anymore . I dont plan to sell either of them as I hope one day my heart will be back into them again . The Malibu Vert needs a motor badly but it still runs , just uses a lot of oil and fouls plugs badly .
I am neck deep in Truck builds 67 to 72 Chevy , plus I buy and sell 67 to 72 Trucks and parts . I needed a new hobby that Joan was not as involved in as the Chevelle's are still painful to think about . I love you all and will continue to check in with you guys daily even if I dont always post . |
Good to hear from you John.
Not much into car stuff anymore either but still have the '67 Camaro. Anne and I have been doing a LOT of traveling...just returned from a 5 week trip to Asia. China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Philippines. Leaving again in three weeks for Europe...UK, Holland, Ireland. Liam & Liz getting married May 4th !!!! |
Bill , would love to catch up with ya'll one day soon . Tell Liz and Liam congrats for me , would love to see them as well .
|
I am here everyday as well. I am still into them. I been playing with my boat putting a roof and gutters on the house. dealing with neglected responsibilities a while.
I be on it here soon. I about got all my other things caught up. I be doing interior soon. |
I check in every day or so. Our daughter moved back to MI and bought a condo. Been painting, replacing outlets, switches, etc. Been pretty busy there and still have things to finish in our house.

Anyone that wants to see some of our truck adventures go to YouTube and check out Whitlock Garage , my buddy Robbie films everything we do here at the Truck Farm and our other adventures .

Thanks Bill , dont know how to attach links like that . We have a lot of fun with the Truck Stuff . I do still plan to do some Chevelle and El Camino stuff eventually . Im thinking about having the original 350 rebuilt for Joan's vert , adding fuel injection and different wheels to make it my own one day .

I'm deep into installing a 5.3L / 4L60E into our '67 Camaro right now.
Engine/trans out of a wrecked '02 Silverado w/102K miles. Paid $600 complete. Too bad but I've already sold the 350 /700R that was in this car. Easy swap !!! Using the stand alone FiTech induction system and a Tanks Inc fuel setup. Andy Key did the heads. Probably 425 hp and damn near 30 mpg highway in this light Camaro. |
Where did you get a deal on the LS Set up , I need another one ?

Local...Douglasville
Was a complete dropout...harness, all accessories, CPU I saw the truck it came out of. Pulled the heads...cylinder still had crosshatch hone marks. I'll keep an eye out for you...anything special ?? I've still got intake, TB, exhaust manifolds, harness, and CPU if you can use them. |
Im just looking for a complete drop out 5.3 with trans that I can drop in a truck as is , no more than 150000 miles . We usually get a new stand alone harness , we use stainless headers made for c10 trucks but everything else I would use .
|
Those are some really nice valve covers/coil brackets Bill.
FYI - to anyone interested, I have a 68k mile Gen 4 short block 4.8L out of my friend's 2013 Silverado. He only took it out to go bigger. I am thinking of getting some heads and making it a complete long block. Going to sell it before I buy another car/truck to stick it in. |
Those 4.8L are desirable...power adder guys love the flat top pistons.
And the shorter stroke... |

This is a Gen IV with the beefier block and rods with full floating pins. |
Dang...if we were a little closer, I'd buy it just to have on hand.
|
Bill , what all would I need to LS the Malivert ? I know a different tank ,LS engine and trans , motor mounts , possibly radiator , stand alone harness , am I missing anything other than fuel lines and exhaust items ?
|
I used the Holley 302-2 oil pan and pickup...tons of steering & chassis clearance on the Camaro.
Guys recommending using this pan in Chevelles too. And by using the truck accessories (PS, Alt, A/C) I had to buy relocation brackets to clear the Camaro's narrow sub-frame. I bought the complete fuel system from Tanks Inc...direct replacement fuel tank, in tank Walbro pump, gas gauge 90 ohm sending unit, Corvette style return regulator, fuel lines & fittings. Even included new hanger straps and filler neck. All said and done...this $600 engine & trans will cost another $3500 by the time it up and running. But,I did do a cam change, valve job, and bought a stand alone aftermarket injection $ystem. BTW...if you find a deal on just an engine...it will mate to your existing TH350 |
Bill ,my Malibu has a 700R already in place .
|
John, it will work with the 700R4 too. Bowtie Overdrives has the bracket for the TV cable IIRC.

Only reason I'm not reusing the 700R that was in the Camaro is because the 5.3L came with a L60E. Uses the same driveshaft yoke. |
Just scrolling by for a quick visit tonight .
