Wuhan flu man chu virus

All good here in sw florida.
People i talk to are wondering what the big deal is.
Then we see the empty shelves ....what are these people doing
with all that toilet paper.?

chevymaher 03-16-2020 05:27 AM

TP we always keep that in stock anyway. But bread and eggs are the other to hoarder supplies here. There is a woman here selling toilet paper out of her car for 5 dollars a roll. The state actually set up a hotline for idiots like that who are price gouging.

Hank70SS 03-18-2020 04:03 PM

Ya, saw a women with 104 rolls of toilet paper coming out of the store. So she has enough toilet paper for a year, what about food? When you run out of food you won't need that toilet paper because you won't be shitting. People are stock piling it like crazy and people that actually need to buy some can't. Store shelves were empty when we went in.

Attorney General here warned companies that price gouging won't be tolerated. They already went after Menards for hiking up the price on face masks.

chevymaher 03-19-2020 05:06 AM

Well it is here now. First case in the hospital. When I say here I mean close miles away. The same county I live in. I got to go out today get milk snacks and whatever the boss adds to the list.

mestorod70 03-19-2020 10:31 AM

Store shelfs taking a hit here.
no pasta or pasta sauce...no paper goods and very little meat.
Lots of fresh produce...go figure.
Went to the mall monday to clothes shop...place was nearly empty.
lots of small stores closed and restaurants closed.

Hank70SS 03-19-2020 04:39 PM

All restaurants. except for carryout, bars, salons, gyms/fitness, public schools ordered to close. GM, Ford, FCA shutdown on their own along with some malls and other business's.

Meat and a lot of other foods can be frozen. Pasta can sit on the shelf for months. Fresh produce, doesn't last too long. Look for canned or frozen veggies, they're probably out of that too. If it isn't close to you yet it will be or already is and they just don't know about it yet. It will get worse before it get's better. Hope you all stay well.

chevymaher 03-19-2020 06:46 PM

You to Hank. I been just working around here.

Weather still nasty here so been working inside. Painted living room and dining room, now have to rip up old carpet and put down some flooring. Installed a new front door with side light last week. Not by myself, I just helped a guy that does that kind of work. Going stir crazy though, need some warm weather and sunshine so we can get outside.

Lynda and I are in that high risk group, over 60, so limiting are exposure best we can. Haven't boarded up the doors and windows, just trying to use common sense. You all do the same.

LMAO, thank you.

Its been crazy here too , Im an essential employee so Im working still and try to grocery shop after work . I have plenty of toilet paper and paper towels thankfully as there is none in the stores when I have been there . No ground beef , fresh chicken or pork , canned good are thin too . Plenty of Seafood type stuff , but I cant afford that stuff . If people would just buy what they need there would be plenty for everyone .

Hank70SS 03-25-2020 07:32 AM

That's the problem John, people buy a month or even up to 6 months worth of goods. That means somebody else has to do without. It's a "me" society. I'm going to worry about me and to hell with everybody else.

Take care of yourself John, be safe.

Hank70SS 03-30-2020 03:51 PM

Hey Tony, it's okay to come back to MI now. Bars are closed but liquor stores and marijuana shops are open!

FlintTony 03-31-2020 06:19 AM

Nah, I think that I will stay down here in the middle of no where. I see very few humans, and that is the way I like it.

Good idea.
The virus does not like heat and hi humidity.

Neither do I! But I haven't got too hot yet. I have spent April down here bofore, and it did get a little warm. Everyone tells me that when the humidity hits, look out! We shall see.

Not sure that's true. They hope it's true and dies out in the summer like the flu. Don't think they know that yet.

I am thankful to have a job still. But, I really despise people. I am exposed daily, not wearing a mask. I washed my hands and used common sense before it was trendy. Lots of conflicting information out there, and the media is really trying to sell the doom and gloom.

FlintTony 04-08-2020 04:34 AM

And when I do post conflicting info from what the bullshit MSM does, the idiots become all riled up. It is astounding how closed minded some of those asshole are.

As an example, the headline from The Flint Journal, the local newspaper in Flint, has a headline that says "Ruben Burkes, former UAW leader dies from virus". Only when you actually read the article, it states that he "might" have had the virus. He was 86 years old with multiple health issues. Most just read the headline and believe it. When the paper is questioned about it, they do not respond. They rely heavily on the AP for thier major stories, so the are well versed at spreading lies and bullshit.

Hank70SS 04-08-2020 09:31 AM

You can argue about the virus all you want but the doom and gloom part is real. This country and half the rest of the world is closed. Whether the virus is real or is as bad as they say or not, the economic impact is going to be devastating. How many people will be without a job when this is over? How many businesses will be closed for good? I think more people will suffer from that than the virus itself.

I own my cars, my home and have a pretty steady and secure income so in that sense we should be fine. I think you're in the same situation Tony but 3/4's of this country are not. They'll be trying to recover from this for years. Maybe I'm wrong, I hope I am, guess we'll see.

FlintTony 04-09-2020 04:32 AM

We are the same here hank. We don't owe anything. Everything we have is paid for, and we both are getting SS now. How long that will last is also up for debate. I made some wise investments many years ago, thinking that I would be set for life. But, when I see my portfolio drop 1/4 of a million in three days, I get just a little antsy. The last big hit we lost 185 grand, never to be seen again. There has been a slight up-tick in the last few days, but damn, this aint funny. I read where they figure that over 50% of the small business places will never open again. I feel so bad for those guys. The Gov has revised the guesstimate of lost lives, so that is making shit a little better for now.

Hank70SS 04-09-2020 07:53 AM

I haven't looked at my IRA for awhile. I know it's down a lot, just have to hope it recovers some. Lynda and I have pensions and SS, we could survive on that but things would be tight. I did lower the amount coming out of the IRA every month. We're not going anywhere or doing anything so why take the money out while the market is down.

It's the loss of jobs and businesses that worries me. I think this country is going to look a whole different when this is over and it won't be in a good way.

Exactly. They are including deaths from auto accidents, suicide, etc - to the statistics. Bunch of BS. Not only that, the tests can't even pinpoint what you have, just "positive." Could be the regular flu, covid19, sars, etc.

Hank70SS 04-10-2020 12:13 PM

I know they can't really say how many people have it, had it and recovered, etc. I know that New York is hurting. Our daughter is a nurse anesthetist. Unlike what you see on TV, they are the ones that typically intubate people to put them on a vent. They're also trained to monitor and adjust the ventilators. Right now she is short of work because most of the smaller surgical centers she works at are shutdown. Most of what they do is elective or non-critical surgery. She can go to New York and make $15,000 a week if she wanted to. Problem is that's 12.5 hour shifts, 7 days a week. If the virus doesn't kill you, running non-stop 12.5 hours a day, 7 days a week will.
