I ahve been offered these rims for the Chevelle, they are 18" x 8" with 4.5" back spacing, 235 /40 and 245/40 tires.
I would like to go to 275/40 on the rear, will I get them on these rims?
what do you all think or do I just go down the 15" torq thrust II option with 235's front and 295's rear?
please help I can't decide!!!!!!

Think I prefer the Torq II's to those.

I was trying to figure out what I didn't like about those. I think they remind me of the late 80's camaro rims. Not that I don't like em but to me they just look out of place.

Ms Grumpy 05-20-2010 06:03 PM

It doesn't happen often but I agree with Grumpy, just don't look right.

flash 05-20-2010 07:35 PM

I agree with the Grumpys .

RBeckman 05-20-2010 07:40 PM

I agree as I'm for the old school look.

grandsport 05-20-2010 08:22 PM

Thank goodness I didn't post that I liked the wheels. I really would have felt stoopid.:p

Hank70SS 05-21-2010 06:47 AM

I think with a different tire they wouldn't look as bad. Those tires have no sidewall. But I like TT II option better, heck I still have stock SS wheels on mine.

I couldn't agree more Torq II's all the way!!

Bowtie-Bri 05-21-2010 10:34 AM

I think I'd have to agree with the the others. It would look much better with the torque thrusts. Heres a pic. of my car with the same wheels. They have 245-40-18's on them. I originally bought them for an 87 Iroc I had. When I sold the Iroc, I kept the wheels and put them on the Chevelle. I did it because it seemed like everyone else had TT. I wanted to do something different. ;)

I know TT2's can get pricey especially when you order custom offsets.
Heres what I would think is a cheaper alternative.

Goodluck in your decsion. ;)

You know sometimes it is hard to tell someone that you did not like what they have chosen. We all have spent countless hours researching something, and then asked another persons opinion, only to get shot down because they don't like it.

I got that repetitively with some of the things I chose. I, ultimately went with what I liked, and guess what, it looks good.

So my advice is to go with your gut, just cause we don't like it, doesn't mean it doesn't look good.

In Garys world,we do what Gary likes. Unless the wife says otherwise.:p

Once in a while I get my way.:)

I Think I agree, torq thrusts is the way to go,
do I need a custom off-set then?

Your absultley right! I have a friend that would give me a hard time about my wheels. He would say your car would look really good with a set of TT2's. I just laughed, because like you, I think they looked good. I liked them because not everybody and their brother have them, so my car stands out..........alittle bit.:D

Derek69SS 05-23-2010 12:17 PM

I don't really like those, but also I prefer pretty much anything that's NOT a TTII... they're just way too common.

No_paint_code 03-18-2012 08:15 AM

Guess I'm to "old school" but I dont care for them, there is to much wheel and not enough tire. Seems like the older I get the wheels get bigger...or is it just me?

Ms Grumpy 03-18-2012 05:49 PM

I am not a fan of the really big tires and rims either. I know we went a little larger than stock on the back of my car. But some people are putting huge tires and rims on their older cars.

TX70CHEVELLE 09-16-2012 04:56 PM

It looks good but i agree torque thrust wheels will look better i think

TX70CHEVELLE 09-16-2012 04:57 PM

They look good but i think torque thrust would look better

The "IROC's" IMHO, look great on any year Chevelle if your going for a "modern" look. That being said, the car HAS to be slammed!
