Modern Chevelle Concept
Hey everyone, with my first post I would like to share a Chevelle concept I have been tinkering with for the last few days. I have always loved the looks of the Chevelle, I was going for a mix of old and new.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y1/...SSConcept2.png Here is a photoshopped picture I found online, pretty much what the front end of my concept would look like with a few minor changes. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y1/...ChevelleSS.png What do yall think? Comments, criticism, and idea's are welcome! |
I gotta say, and Im sorry if you're offended, but that just might be the single worst looking chevelle I have ever seen. Wow that thing is ugly. Whoever built it completely destroyed the gorgeous lines of the car.

Are you talking about both images or just the one on the bottom? If your referring to the one on the bottom, I just posted it as reference to the kind of front end I was thinking of for my concept. Plus its not a real car, its actually someone else attempt at photoshopping a challenger into a "Chevelle". As for my design on the top if you don't like it thats fine, thats why I am here I am looking for ideas as to how I could improve upon my design.

I kind of like your drawing concept. I would just build a 1970 SS if I were GM. Follow the lines as closely as possible
|
I like the drawing concepts better that the other one...one suggetion would be to lose the new style "SS" and go old school with SS 427 as the car would have the LS2 that is 427 CI..
As for the one with the front end showing, the grille looks truckish to me.. Keep up the good work. |
Not too bad. What I don't like is the same thing I don't like about the new Camaro. The belt line is too high, to keep the roof line low it looks almost like a chopped top. Lower belt line with a little more side glass would look better to me.

The drawings look like what the new Camaro should have looked like, instead of the cartoon we ended up with.
My idea of the Chevelle is the mid-sixties style which was characterized by horizontal lines. From every aspect, the theme of the Chevelle (and most GM A-bodies) was horizontal. Today everything is fat and tall like a jellybean with its ass in the air. No horizontal lines at all. As long as a phobia for the horizontal prevails in Detroit (and Tokyo and Stuttgart), we will never see designs approaching the grace and the beauty of the mid-sixties Chevelles. |

Here is a quick sketch of an idea I had for the front end. It's just the basic idea, it needs refining.

My first thought was give it some lines, I really hate how every car is "rounded" in every possible place. So many of them look the same to me.

OK. From the side it remeinds me of a Dodge charger. Well at least the nose part of it. Then again in another pic. Looks like a Camero with a Chevelle grill. Also remeinds me a Challenger ! Not saying its ugly. But the top picture is better then the other one. Then wheres a picture of a rear shot. Get rid of the Camero head lights
|
Keep trying. Needs hood pins. head light change.

Hi Rick,where you been? Waving

There were some guys a while back who bought up some of the 'modern' GTOs and 'converted' them into a modern 70SS. They weren't TOOOOO bad just way too expensive. Oh, and they still aren't the REAL thing.
|
I thought someone posted. a Chevelle body from Dianacorn ( not sure of the spelling) But that did look bad at all to me. But your not going to make everyone happy! But I'd love to see something newer on a Chevelle. Pleas don't make it a 4 door family car! :)

The images were cool, you might be on to something there. The shopped picture almost made me cry. It hurt mt feelings bad.
I pretty much agree, that if the Chevelle lines and angles were followed more closely, maybe even accentuated, instead of rounded off and smoothed. The front of that shop picture looks like the front of a venture minivan stuck on there. This car needs to have a sharp hood, and pointed nose, not appear all flattened. |
