Car cover question

What car cover do you use on your car? I have been told that the flannel covers are the best, especially with a black car.

My wife got me one for Christmas. She said she did research on what type to get,but it is not flannel. The brand escapes me now,but she paid $300 for it.I will wait till winter to use it,as I don't want to take it on and off all the time. During the spring and summer,I use soft blankets.

Our garage is very old and damp. I would like a cover that at least keeps off the dust and keeps down on scratching.

Get a heavier indoor, outdoor cover, it won't keep all of the dirt off of it though.

The cover I have is a waffle like material. Came with the car, has an NPD logo on the front of it. Pretty soft on the inside but it breathes so it won't trap moisture. Can be used indoors or outdoors. I don't cover mine in the summer, our garage stays dry, even in the winter.

I was thinking about one of the flannel lined covers.

If your garage is damp make sure you get a cover that breathes. You don't want anything that will trap moisture, unless of course you happen to like rust.

grumpy 06-03-2010 08:49 PM

Most of the ones i been looking at say they are breathable.

So did you find a car cover?. I was looking yesterday and still not sure what to put on mine.

Not yet. The ones we looked at were not for me. I thought the flannel was too thin, the the outer material seemed more like canvas, and would not breath well. The hunts still on.

I looked at on at Napa yesterday. It was light weight with a soft vinly material on top, but would have to open the box and undo it to see what the under side looked like. The guy did not want me to do that. Brand was premium I believe. Price was around $79

grumpy 06-06-2010 11:15 AM

I would make em open it, if you considering it.

We talked to a guy at the C.A.R.S. show yesterday. He said to find one that has a terry cloth liner. Reason being that if it does not fit your car tightly, then everytime the wind blows or your in your garage it rubs in the same spot and wears on the paint.

Order a California dust top cover yesterday and and it embroidered to read 70 Chevelle SS on it. Since the car is in the garage all the time I don't need the outside protection one.

Is that cover an indoor/outdoor cover? What was the cost of something like that?

shadowgray396 08-01-2010 03:31 PM

It was $165 for the cover and 20 to have it embroidered. It is a inside cover only. There inside/outside are around 199 from the catalog I just got. They were cheaper in it then on line. The dust top is designed not to let the dust get through it.

New car cover

Got my cover today, total cost including storage bag and everything was around $250 since it was a larger size then I first figured, plus shipping.
