Nature puts on an awesome show!

Me and Malibu are sitting on the front porch, looking at the most vivid double rainbow I have ever seen ,arching over the ridge! What a beautiful sight, and it's free. That's all,I enjoy the simple things in life.:)

While we are waiting for the storms to come through. Just watched them go thru Chicago with 70mph winds. Crossing our fingers that we come out at the end of the rainbow.

Cool, I was thinking thunder storm. I love sitting on the patio watching a good thunder storm. There is an enclosed deck above the patio so I'm not sitting in the rain. It faces east, and the land to the east goes downhill for a couple of miles to Kensington Lake. The lightening seems to be really active there.

Guess we're both easily entertained Gary. I love sitting outside and watching the birds, deer or even the the trees moving in the wind.

I believe that to be a true statement.

When I left work today about 4:30 there was about 50 utility trucks with the big booms and about 30 pickup trucks with all the guys just walking around at the old Ford Wixom plant on Wixom Rd, they were not even DTE trucks....then I seen the news that DTE has called in crews from other states knowing that this storm was going to cause some damage. It's 10:30 and so far pretty quiet up here in Fenton....just a couple of boomers out once in a while.

grandsport 06-23-2010 09:36 PM

What does DET mean? I have only been in Detroit a few times....

RBeckman 06-23-2010 09:53 PM

Gary, Not sure, buts it DTE and its the energy company that supplies gas and electricty to most of Metro Detroit, we also have Consumers Energy up here as well.

We went above 80 today, only the second one so far this year. Back in the 70's tomorrow again.

I enjoy a good sunset, star gazing and love a good thunderstorm with a good amount of lightning.
Last year when I was in Italy, I saw probably the Most exciting lightning storm.
It lasted for over an hour and shook our 20 story hotel.
I was on the 14th floor and from my window it was Awesome!!!!
Giant sheets of lightning that traveled across the sky and never touched the ground in all forms of blue, blue gray and silver.
Thunder that was so loud it hurt the ears from inside my room.

Simple things, yes, but awesome to say the least.

I enjoy watching outside too. In the past few weeks it has been REALLY HOT all day, like better than 95 degrees with 80% plus humidity. That puts the heat index well over 100. It goes down to around 80 at night. Almost every afternoon around 4 or so, giant, scary purplish gray clouds move in and drop a violent thunderstorm with hard rain, then about an hour later, it is hot and steamy everywhere, and everything is dried up. A few times, we've noticed that it is either raining and sunny at the same time or it is raining in the back yard, and sunny in the front yard.

DTE is the electric company here in the metro Detroit area.

We did not have the damage where I live, we were north of the worst damage. One of my co-workers had the wind blowing her tree limbs parallel to the ground, her windows were rattling and she said she thought that a tornado was coming cause the wind was so loud. Her daughter, who lives just south of her, spent a few hours in the basement. The tornado sirens were going off for 2 hours and she was not taking a chance. No one was hurt, and that is the most important thing.

Tonight I am watching a full moon rise from over the ridge,as I am sitting on the beloved Front Porch.

grandsport 06-25-2010 09:49 PM

Mr. Moon is coming your way as Mr. Sun is ready to go to bed.:)

This is saturday morning. Here in Minnesota. June 26. Talk about a show . Yesterday Mother nature put on another show for us. Had the neighborhood out there watching! Clouds going one way others going the other way! Rain came down so hard. Streets were flooded in no time. Thunder & Lighting shooting across the sky. Really! I've had my fill of that stuff now. Seems like once a week. She has to wash everything in sight. Haven't had the Chevelle out in a week! More storms coming this afternoon. :(
