Flexpalte torque spec
 

alright i know this is stupid but i torqued my flexplate bolts to 45 ft lbs with locktight becasue thats what my buddy told me it was. its s 350sbc and after i got inside with the trans and converter and everything together to the right spec i read various palces it should be 55 lbs to 60 ftlbs now its only 10 ft lbs. how bad is the chance of those 6 bolt backing out? i mean the converter is pretty tight to the plate too so they cant backout all the way. should i leave em and not worry or pull 2 hours of work apart and start over?

Couldnt you get a nice long 3/8" drive cheap exstension and swivel at Harbor Freight or Sears and tighten them from the bottom?

i suppose i could try that, just unbolt the converter and slide it in that 1/4 inch and see if i can fit one in there... thanks ill try it

just attempted and theres basically no space to get anything up there..... wont work

Put a jack under the tail shaft and remove the crossmember. Then drop the tailshaft down. Just make sure you remove the distributor cap. Thats how I got to my bell housing bolts to remove them. It was a breeze. Good luck

I made the same mistake on my Nova. It's a cast iron flywheel with a clutch mounted on it. I also torqued them to 45 lbs. ft. ...11 years ago and I even drag raced my car. No issues. The difference between 45 lbs. ft. and 60 lbs. ft. is about 5 degrees of rotation. Nothing to really worry about.
