Power Steering Gearbox...

I need to replace my Power Steering Gearbox, or have it rebuilt...
Anyone have any suggestions based off where you had yours done, or bought from?

Thanks

Liam

I have read where a lot of guys are going with a Jeep Grand Cherokee gearbox due to it having a better turning ratio but I have not tried it yet .A friend of mine did this on his 72 Chevelle and loves it .

The 605 gearbox out of 80's model G-bodies are quick ratio also. The best part is they're direct bolt in replacements. I have a manual box and I just may swap mine to one of these.

I am fairly new to the chevelle scene... Which cars are the G-bodies? I need a new manual gear box.

I've done this on 8 different Chevelles...including the one John mentioned to our friend's '72. ;)
WELL worth the small effort to complete this swap.
I wouldn't even think of wasting money rebuilding a stock Chevelle box.

Figure about $16 for the PS hose flare adapters, about $30 for the new rag joint, and $50-$75 for the '93-98 Jeep GRAND Cherokee box from a Pull-a-part or Ebay.
You can also buy this box brand new for about $150 BUT it must be from a GRAND CHEROKEE '93 to '98 model. You reuse the Chevelle pitman arm on the JGC box.
Best part about this whole swap...you'll never know if was done by looking at the steering box. Looks pretty much the same as the oem Chevelle one

Sound like it is perfect for the power steering but what about a manual gear box?

I was responding to the OP question in my post above.

Use a manual box out of a mid/late '80s S-10.

I thinks now adays its cheaper to just replace the gearbox rather then rebuilding. parts and labor to rebuild the box is prolly going to run you more than it would to just buy new one.
Any idea please share,.
