Flu shot news this morning

The local news reported that flu shots were found to be only 60% effective at preventing the flu. For years they said the shot would not give you the flu, BUT you may experience "flu-like symptoms" for a few days.

REALLY? Since I only had pneumonia for 6 days, 3-5 days of "flu-like symptoms" sounds A LOT like getting the flu!

Now they say the shot is only 60% effective. Correct me if I'm wrong, but 60% is dangerously close to 50%.

If I'm close to a 50/50 chance of getting the flu WITH a flu shot, then why the heck would I even bother with it??!! I get the same odds without a flu shot!

This is just my opinion, but I think someone has gotten some serious financial gain from telling the general public they have to have a flu shot or they'll be sorry. Of course the media hasn't helped things any by pressing their importance. BUT once you take a hard look at the numbers, it appears it just doesn't matter if you get one or not. Funny, this has been my position on the subject for years! I never got a flu shot in the '70's or '80's and yet I'm still here.

I've NEVER gotten a flu shot. IMO, the whole idea is nothing more than padding the drug companies bottom line. :(

They say you can only get any particular strain of flu once .... I had them all in elemetary school ... that explains my current healthy condition!

Is that health condition a little bit of everything ?? lol

The only thing that you really want to get twice is chicken pox. Well you don't actually get it twice. Once you have Chicken Pox the "virus" stays in your body and only becomes active later in life and then they call it Scabbies. And the name fits, it is a rash that is extremely painful. I have never had it, but I know my sister was actually hospitalized when she got it.

Anyway, I don't do the flu shot. I have kids, so I am going to get colds every other day at my house. So why waste the money. lol

Ms .... me thinks you have Scabbies and Shingles mixed up as you might have the flu and the common cold considered the same. ..... and then there is the question of mumps, measles and chicken pox ,,,,, and why do they called them chicken pox when you dont catch them from chickens?? LOL
