where to start??

so i have finally made enough money to buy some big parts for my 69'. I have not done all most anything to my car in to long becuase of my lack of money, but i would like to know where to start with the restoration, i have an engien block that i could build, i need to work on my body, suspension, ect.. i just dont know where to start!!! pls help thanks :)

My suggestion:
#1. Make a list of all the things you want to do to your car.
#2. For each item you want to do, write down all the parts you think you will need.
#3. Prioritize your list. What do you NEED to drive your car, what do you WANT.
#4. Budget has everything to do with what you are going to do.
#5. Ask all your friends that you have helped, to help you to save some cash
#6. Be patient, your car did not get in this condition overnight, and it is going to take probably twice as long as you think it will. Sorry, but it is true.

Nancy is right on. Start with the small items. The first thing I did on mine was the suspension.

i went through the same thing to add to nancy's list before you even make your parts list is think about what you are going to do with the car! are you going to just drive it around? are you going to street and strip? are you going to be more strip than street? 100% strip? 100% street? those are the things you need to think about first. once you know what you are going to do with the car then you can make your parts list. like for me my chevelle will most likely never see the strip so power is not something i am after for right now. so like ray said suspension was first. I am still finishing up my rear and working my way up to the front of the car. This weekend i hope to have the rear end done and back down on all 4s then work on putting the interior together (wiring and seats) then the front of the car (wiring, brakes, suspension) hope that helps :) o and you can do like i did make a parts list on the forum of the things you would want and everyone can chime in and help you with things you think you need

#1 make it safe
#2 make it reliable
#3 make it fast
#4 make it shiny

all good recommendations. i would just add that i like to do all the stuff that can be done with minimum down time first. So all the stuff where is not out of operation for more then a day or two.

That way you can still drive it alot and see and feel your progress. once the car is up in stands for a while it gets harder to see the light at the end of the tunnel. and they are always always on jack stands longer then we anticipated ;)
