What's it worth?

I am looking at a fully restored SS, with a NOM LS6 from a 1970 Chevelle SS. The casting number are correct. What would this be worth?

Whatever someone is willing to pay for it. There are too many variables to make a determination based on this question. Need more, like pics, #'s, is it a TRUE SS or a clone...so many questions. Sorry.

Any paperwork to prove it's a real SS car? If so what engine did it originally have?
Without paperwork, consider it a "clone" when it comes to pricing.

With paperwork, if the magic digits "LS6" appear on the buildsheet, then I'd recommend hiring an expert like Rick Nelson to check the car out and verifying the paperwork is real before paying a premium for those digits.

Could be anywhere between $15k and $50k without a more detailed description.

There is no paperwork or build sheet. The dealer claims it is a real SS that originally was a LS5. Everything I have read points to it being a real SS, but a good clone would look the same. It is in restored condition.

Lots of factors man. After 68 ss was an option so no real way to tell without paper work or build sheet

Without proof that it's real, assume it's not when placing value on it.

I'd say for a restored '70 without docs, $15-25k depending on the quality of the restoration.

Is this the car your talking about? I already made a thread of this one on team chevelle and it turns out there's lots of incorrect details.

yes that is the car. Can you tell me what is wrong aside from the speedo and the placement of the tape stripes? I am having it appeased / inspected today.

Thanks

I would pass on it. There's way to many small inn prefect items and it was originally an automatic they said according to the column. It's a dealership to so your basically paying a 10% premium just by getting it there. No docs also and you would defanitly have a hard time at a car show when it has the ls6 stickers but it also might be a real ls5 but there's no proof. I wouldn't waste my money on an appraiser. JMHO

Yup, pass... for that kind of money - it needs too much more invested to make it "right." JMHO But, there are better cars out there for similar money.
