lets see your radios
Ok i ask this because i am not sure what to do with the radio. I was thinking about finding an old radio that does or doesn't work and putting it in the factory location and then putting my actual radio in the center console that i am planning on building once i am done with the rest of the interior. But i was wondering if anyone on here has cut the dash to fit a modern day radio in its place. so i want to see some pictures :)

There are new radio's out there that look like the original one on the face, but allow you to use your Ipod and a CD changer in the trunk.

yeah i know about those but i already have a really good and expensive head unit that i had in my wifes car until it got totaled. I kept that radio because it was so good. it has a remote which is why i was thinking about putting it in my custom center console.

You could either leave the stock one in the dash or make yourself a custom radio delete panel for the dash and put the other one in your console. I would NOT cut up the dash.

I would NEVER modify a stock Chevelle dash to accommodate an after market radio!!

I ordered a radio delete plate for Joan's convertible ,just have not installed it yet .

I had purchased a retro look radio, it was expensive, and worked for crap. Last year it was taken out and replaced with a JVC that my brother had hanging around. It wasn't a perfect fit, but instead of cutting he installed it without the faceplate. It actually looks good and sounds awesome.
