68' - 72' Bench seat, are they the same?
From Shaun's thread, I know the rear seat is different. But what about the front bench seat?
The 69' I just bought has a pair of bucket seats with it. The previous owner threw out the original front bench and rear seat. So I will be trying to hunt down both seats. |
Not sure on the front bench. Buckets are basically the same so I would think the bench is too. You need to weld in different tracks I believe.

The bucket seats I am getting with the car will be for sale. I want to go back with a bench seat in the car. My 72' is a loaded car with tons of options. I want to build this one as a no frills, low option car. Manual steering, radio block off plate, etc. I am going to add power disc brakes up front for safety reasons. (plus a set came with the car - might as well use them)

I will be selling my bench seat in the spring

The front benches have a little bit different measurements as far as the shape of the cushions, but are the same as far as I know.
Here's some info I found. 64-70 bench seats don't use foam, they use springs, burlap, and cotton batting for the cushion. 71-2 switched to foam cushions. The 69 bench seat has one 1 difference than a 70-2 and that is the headrest lock and you cannot put a 70-2 headrest lock on a 69 seat |
Good info, thanks Ray!
