Where's the serial number on the engine block?
 

Pulled the oil pan to change out the gasket today and when I went to the parts store to get a new one found out the 350 in my '72 was 1974 or older. When I bought it I thought the engine was just one the guy had lying around and threw in to get it driving but now I'm curious if it might be the original.

Passenger pad under the head has the which car it goes to stuff. Stamping.
Rear by the bell housing is the casting number which tells you what range of things it went to and year range.

Thanks! I actually ran into a Chevelle guy at work and he explained to me where to find the information on the engine also. I'll look it up this week.
