Thinking about pulling my engine

My original plan this winter was to pull my engine, fix a couple oil leaks and paint everything under the hood. Being the procrastinator I am, I never started working on the car until the end of march! I have no excuses considering I have a furnace in the garage. I should have had it done by this time. A friend of mine told me I should wait till next fall to pull my engine. He said if I pull it now, The car will never see the road this summer. The problem is, all I would have to do is unbolt the torque converter, trans and motor mounts and the engine would be ready to come out. I had thought about leaving the enigine in and painting it as it sits, and put it all back together until this fall and THEN pull the engine.
I really don't want to do this all over again. I guess I'm just gonna have to pull it and get it over with.Wish me luck. Now all I need is a cherrypicker and a engine stand.;)

Hey Brian...If you feel like taking a drive, you are more than welcome to borrow my cherry-picker.

Or you can borrow mine and the engine stand. Check craigslist, I see cherry pickers and engine stands on there all the time for pretty good prices.

You can pull the engine in an hour or so, same putting back. The weather is going to turn back to normal, not going to stay like this for long. You have plenty of time to get er done.

We're doing an engine swap in a '69 Malibu next Saturday.
Usually takes about 6 hours...
Probably break the engine in on the way to a local Sat night cruise...weather permitting.

Drove the Chevelle to tonight's cruise in.

When my oil pickup broke off, a couple friends and I pulled the 454 in the morning and had it back in by 5 pm. Drove the car to make a beer run.

You can do it.
