Inline Fuel Filter add on

1 Attachment(s)
I would like to build a new fuel line from the fuel pump to the Eldelbrock carburetor with an inline fuel filter. I want to eliminate the rubber hose connections for the fuel filter. I have been looking for an inline fuel filter that uses the same flared connections that I have now. (i.e. Like the connections to the fuel pump and carb.) I can only find fuel filters that use the newer style connections that are used with fuel injection.

Does anyone know which model of car that has a fuel filter similar to the one pictured that can be used with 3/8" flared steel tubing?

You could use any inline filter with 3/8 NPT (pipe) in/out, like this:

Then you could buy a couple female inverter flare fittings from any good hardware store to use with you steel fuel lines.

Thanks for the input Mike. I would like to be able to install one without any adapters for a cleaner look. I guess my other option would be to find a shop that is able make the newer FI style connections and go that route. I was hoping there was fuel filter out there that I could use my flaring tool to make one myself.

I did find this fuel filter for a 62-65 FI 327 Corvette GM part # 5650677. I am not sure what the magnitude of filtration is. If it is near 5 microns or less, it might be too much resistance to flow for a mechanical pump to properly feed the carburetor.
If anyone has any idea on the filtration, I would greatly appreciate it.

My '65 BB Corvette used an AC GF-416. 3/8" Inv flare both ends, still available (repros) from the "Vette" houses like ZIP Corvette etc. About $50 ea but make for a CLEAN installation. It was mechanical pump and installed between pump and carb (factory item).

Thanks a lot for the information dbradley. I will check into it.

Its funny you brought this subject up. I had a guy that is considered a Q-Jet expert tell me I shouldn't use the stock filter that goes in the carb because he said it can restrict the flow. He recommended using some sort of an inline filter. I'm trying to maintain a stock appearance. Pictures would be great. Forgive me for hyjacking your thread. ;)

I have an in-line filter on mine made by Edelbrock bought at Summit .
