I was always told to pick a cam with a power band thats in your operating range.I dont shift past 6000 and I have a 2500 stall converter so I picked a 1500-6500 cam.When Im at a cruze my rpm is usuly above 1500 so I dont get drive train surge.In my opinion solid lifters are more geared for racing rather than street use.Pick your cam and your cam card will take the guess work out of everything else.
