Trailers are too easy to get titles for. I would've popped the vin tag off and had the state come out and stamp a new vin in it, YEARS AGO. When the guy came back for it, I would've asked him, "What trailer? That's mine over there and I have a title to prove it. If you take it, I'll have you arrested for stealing my trailer. Next time, Don't disappear for 8 years."
There would've been nothing he could've done about it at that point.
....but then again, I'm just evil like that.
