For a manual trans car, 18* doesn't sound out of line. I intend to start around 17*-19* with mine once I am healed. Total timing might be a bit tame, I say get a cheap recurve kit and experiment. Up to 38* with pump gas, but see what it likes/runs best with. It may or may not like more total timing. But, seems like you have it very close.
