I had a 700R4 built a could of years ago and may hav 8K miles on it. I had it built to handle up to 500HP. I had a Corvette servo installed for first gear.
Here is the problem: As I start off in first gear at a slow speed it would hold first gear for a while and have a crisp shift to second. Now I notice it just slides into second and second gear doesn't seem to have as much pulling power. It is like second gear is slipping. It shifts good into third gear and pulls hard. I changed the filter and fluid. The fluid looked good and red like it should. I don't know what to think. Any ideas? Thank you, Paul |

Well, I pulled my "Rebuilt" 700r4 out last night and brought it a local reputable transmission performance shop to get the 2-4 band replaced. I told the shop I bought the transmission 3 or 4 years ago and I only put 8K or 10K miles on it. He tore into and called me to tell me this transmission has approx 150K miles on it according to his experience. He said it looks like some cleaned and painted the case and changed the front and rear seals and shipped it to me.
I bought the trans from Outlaw Transmissions in GA. I now learned about Outlaw Trans and Mad Dog Transmissions and the relationship and reputation. If you are in the market for a transmission I would go somewhere else. |

There seems to be a lot of that going around, make is look pretty and sell it to someone to make a few extra bucks.
I'm a firm believer in Karma and it may not be today or Tomorrow, but they will get it in the end.

Assuming your shift linkage is in sync, it sounds like you have a shift valve that is not moving freely enough. possibly from small debris or a burr on the valve or in the bore it rides in.
