Upgrade to a 700r4?

Just got a project car. 454 with a t400 tranny thats dead. The cars gunna be a cruser with a little stop light to light action. Is there a guide to swapping transmissions. Any pros and cons $$$$.

I went from a T400 to a 700r4. There were very few mods. Had to move the trans. crossmember back about an in. and shorten the drive shaft alittle. Thats about it. I also changed out the stock 3:31 gears to a 3:73. I'm very happy.

I swapped out my TH350 for a 700r4. Also swapped from 2.73 10 Bolt to a 3.73 12 bolt. Love it... I also had to add a rocket switch under my dash so I could control the lock up when in city driving and cut the drive shaft 3".

I have done many 700r4 swaps, upgrades to the tranny I recommend is a TCI valvebody and a hughs rebuild kit, allot more clutch packs, with the valve body and the added packs you will get crisper firmer shifts for said stop light action

Are you planning on doing the work? That is a major factor.
