1966 Chevrolet Malibu
1966 Chevy Malibu Convertible 1966 Chevrolet Malibu The 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle promised to be leaner and hungrier than ever before. Touting new styling and a range of performance options the Chevelle remained the viable choice for many. Packed with both style and performance, the ’66 Chevelle was offered in four series, including: “SS” Super Sport 396, Malibu, Chevelle 300 Deluxe and Chevelle 300 models that included; convertibles, sport coupes and sedans, wagons, and 2 and 4-door sedans. The all new styling boasted big new looks with a broad new grille and bumper, a more raked roof line, chrome accents, and a curved side window. Two simulated scoops, which would become a SS signature, were also introduced this year. Depending on the model, most Chevelles packed a 120hp 194 Six or a 195hp 283 V8 as standard, although you could get up to 275hp with a 327 V8. Super Sport 396 models included a 325hp 396 V8 as standard, and a 360hp 396 V8 could be ordered. 1966 Chevrolet Malibu Production Numbers Model Number-Body/Style Number-Body Type & Seating-Factory Price-Shipping Weight-Total Production Chevelle Malibu Series 35 - Six-Cyl 35 69 4 Dr Sedan - 6P $2,352 2,960 lbs 52,300 (rounded off) 35 39 4 Dr Sport Coupe - 6P $2,458 3,035 lbs 35 17 2 Dr Sport Coupe - 6P $2,378 2,935 lbs 35 67 2 Dr Convertible - 6P $2,586 3,030 lbs 35 35 4 Dr Station Wagon - 6P $2,651 3,651 lbs Note 3 Chevelle Malibu Series 36 - V-8 36 69 4 Dr Sedan - 6P $2,458 3,110 lbs 189,300 (rounded off) 36 39 4 Dr Sport Coupe - 6P $2,564 3,180 lbs 36 17 2 Dr Sport Coupe - 6P $2,484 3,075 lbs 36 67 2 Dr Convertible - 6P $2,693 3,175 lbs 36 35 4 Dr Station Wagon - 6P $2,756 3,375 lbs Note 3 Chevelle Malibu SS 396 Series 38 - V-8 38 17 2 Dr Sport Coupe - 6P $2,776 3,375 lbs 72,272 38 67 2 Dr Convertible - 6P Not Available Not Available Notes: 1. 412,155 Chevelles were produced 2. 117,700 had 6-cyl and 300,500 had V-8 3.
