A little background info first...
I purchased my 68 Chevelle about 3 months ago and drove it back to San Diego from Colorado Springs. No issues or problems driving back. No issues or problems here in San Diego...until about 2 weeks ago, my wife and I were out driving around and while on the freeway - it began to feel like the brakes were slowly being applied. The car bogged and dragged like it was towing a heavy load. I stopped, let things cool for a while, then got her home. I didn't get a chance since then to try and troubleshoot the problem, but in the interim, I did have some work to car done. -I had the Tranny completely checked - external and internal diagnostic, new filter/gasket/fluid. -Fresh oil and filter change. -Coolant system flush. Short drives reveal no issues...but today, I was out for about 25 minutes and it happened again...the brakes seem to go on by themselves. WhenI press the brake pedal, it's "hard" with no give...but the brakes don't completely LOCK. My tranny temp stays under 150 My engine temp stays under 190 The car has a new engine and trans and NEW Brakes. SSBC Discs all the way around. I know that since all the work was done by the previous owner, he had only put about 200 miles on it just driving around the bock in his neighborhood...and he had the car for several years. So, with that...what's the best case and worst case scenario I could be facing? I though about flushing the brake system to start. It's possible the brake fluid has been sitting dormant for a few years, and maybe I stirred-up some boogers when I drove it back 1300 miles. Thanks for your replies! Liam Edit/Delete Message |
